Piper aka The Coons Cemetery
The Piper Cemetery aka Coons Cemetery is located on the hill behind the old house
of Clarence and Annie Hackett at #437 Pleasant Shade Highway in Graveltown.

Oldham, Viana 30 May 1858 - 10 Mar 1883 W/O James Oldham
"A faithful wife and Mother dear in sweet respose is sleeping here-
Her painful loss we deeply feel but God can our sorrow heal"
Cleveland, Cynthia H. 7 Mar 1849 - 30 Apr 1864
"Her trust was in God"

The above two tombstone were buried and were dug out.
Two other tombstones listed in the cemetery book were not found.

Piper, Nancy --- 1883---

A few years ago a metal sign was placed at this cemetery entitled "Coons Cemetery".
There are several graves marked by fieldstones.
Approx. 100 yards north in same field is another small cemetery with several
unknown graves marked by fieldstones. Property owner stated these were reported
to be graves of Afro-Americans.
