70 on Plunketts Creek Road on the farm of Steve Hix.

James Barnett and wife, Amy Bennett, migrated to Smith County about 1812
and settled at Plunketts Creek. James was a very religious man so when the
greal revivals of the early 1800's swept over Tennessee he offered his
land to be used as a campground. People came from great distances bringing
their familes, livestock and negro slaves for the camp meeting at Barnett's
Campground. As the fervor for camp meetings waned James deeded land in 1839
to a church built at the campground called Salem. James is buried in the
Barnett's Campground Cemetery along with two of their four daughters. They
had no sons. Amy is also thought to be buried here but there is no marker.
