1790 Grantees and Grantors for Cumberland Co have Richard 1790 and John, Allen, Duncan and Angus in 1794.
Oct 15, 1893 John McBride Wilkinson letter said Allen had five sons and 3 daughters listed above information. Archy and Mary were twins.
This letter transcribed by Barbara Wilkinson Melton who was the oldest child of HC Wilkinson who was a child of John McBride Wilkinson.

John McBrideWilkinson March 15, 1899 letter said Rachel Hesson’s father Arthur married a Jane Dorsey and they had seven children Andrew, Peter, Rachel, Margaret, John and Polly. They settled in Tennessee around 1795. Arthur was raised in city of Dublin, Ireland, worked as tailor. Came to Pennsylvania in 1766. Was at battle of Lexington, Concord, Saratoga, Cowpens, White Plains and others down to Yorktown. Moved to Peyton Creek about 1795.
The letter said that Allen moved to Tennessee about 1795 and taught school for a number of years. Said he died in April, 1819. It also indicated that Allen commanded a company in creek war and was the first to storm the breastworks at Horseshoe Bend.
Letter In Missouri Historical Society files Dec 6, 1902 from H.C.Wilkinson, son of J M Wilkinson, said that Grandfather Allen Wilkinson traveled across the Cumberland Mountains to Tennessee in the very early days of the settlement of that state. Two of his brothers came about the same time – Daniel and Archibald. Grandfather first taught school on Peyton’s Creek in Smith County, Tenn. And soon married Rachael Hesson, a girl of 15. .. Grandfather after marrying bought the beginning of the old Wilkinson homestead on the headwaters of Peyton’s Creek and began the life of a farmer and hunter. They had 8 children. John M Wilkinson was born June 7, 1813. John married Lavanna Sanderson sometime in 1836. They had five children – Edward, Neil, Henry Clay and a daughter. Fifth child was buried with mother.
July 4, 1807 William Jenkins, record of sale of his property in the Nashville State Library. Shows that one large pot purchased for $9.00 from estate by Allen Wilkerson. Indicated that Allen was one of first Wilkinson’s and was in Pleasant Shade and Difficult section of Smith County.
Letter to Allen Wilkinson on Jan 31, 1815 from Neill Wilkinson Cumberland Co indicating that Allen was born in 1768, Archibald is 2 ¼ years younger and Duncan is 2 ¼ years younger than Archibald and so on.
Military enlistment served under Andrew Jackson. Was part of the Creek Indian Campaign. Battle of Horseshoe Bend. Allen commanded a company that was the first to storm Indian breastwork at Horseshoe Bend. He is listed as Captain in 3rd Regiment of Tennessee Militia under Colonel Stephen Copeland.
Allen died in Smith Co TN about 1819. The Wilkinson Cemetery is located north of Pleasant Shade, Smith County Tenn.

There are fieldstones for AF Wilkinson (Archibald), Nancey Wilkinson, D A Wilkinson (Daniel) , Susan Wilkinson, a McKinnis (probably Jane), Margaret Wilkinson Cleveland.

1820 Census shows Rachel Wilkerson with 3 children under 10, 1 10 to 16, 1 16 to 18 and 2 16 to 26 males and then 1 under 10, 1 10-16, 1 16 –26 and 1 26-45 female
1840 Census shows Rachel Wilkinson males 2 at 15 to 20 and 2 at 20 to 30 and females 1 at 20 to 30 and 1 at 50 to 60. Also there is a listing of John M Wilkinson with males 2 under 6, 1 20 to 30 and females 1 under 6 and 1 at 20 to 30.
1850 Census shows Rachel Wilkinson at 67 in the household of Archibald Wilkinson, wife Nancy and children Emily and Henry C.
