Philadelphia History

Welcome ......to the

Home Page of

The Community of Philadelphia, Tennessee

This year we are celebrating the 175 th anniversary of the date when the city of Philadelphia was established by the Tennessee General Assembly. Please join us in our celebration by reliving some of our history. On this web site you will find much of the written and oral history as well as photographs, maps and some of the geneology of its people.

Feel free to stay as long as you like and if you have ancestors who live or once lived in the Philadelphia area please share their stories with us.

This project is a work in progress and has entered its third year. Most of the work is being done by student teams from Philadelphia Elementary School in Philadelphia, Tennessee. The project is under the supervision of Philadelphia's Technology Coordinator Patrick Wright. The main goal of the project is to train students in the methods of creating and publishing multimedia presentations. Besides this web site the Technology Team is working on a multimedia cd entitled "No Longer a Stranger: The History of Philadelphia, Tennessee"

The original project was entered as a student web project for CYBERFAIR '97 '98. That site is still being , maintained and can be viewed at http://cyberfair.gsn.org/warriors/
