     McNairy County, Tennessee Deed Book J, pp. 263-4 22 April 1865

     M. CROSS & CATES  to  THOMAS E. DEVAULT

     Title Bond

     M. CROSS and CATES have this day bargained and sold unto THOMAS E.
     DEVAULT the following described two tracts of land lying and being
     in McNairy County, State of Tennessee, Range 4th and Section 4th.

     The first tract containing 267 acres more or less by survey bearing
     date 27th day of June 1847 and bounded as follows, to wit:

     Beginning at a dead hickory and pointers, the SouthEast corner of
     Entry Number 302 in the name of JOHN EVERETT, thence East 110 poles
     to a stake and hickory pointers, the NorthEast corner of Entry
     Number 1513 in the name of WILLIAM S. WISDOM, then South 48 poles to
     a dogwood with beech pointers, then West 33 pointers to a chestnut
     and pointers, then South 62 poles to a stake with hickory and gum
     pointers, then East 142 poles to a white oak and pointers, then
     North 120 poles to a Beech, then West 13 poles to a chestnut and
     pointers, then North 204 poles to a black jack and pointers, then
     West 50 poles to a Beech, Oak and pointers, then South 8 poles to a
     beech and pointers, then West 56 poles to a stake and white oak
     pointers, then South 76 poles to a post oak and pointers, the
     SouthEast corner of Reserve Number ____ in the name of J. M. WISDOM,
     then West 30 poles to a hickory and pointers, then South 110 poles
     to the beginning.

     Second Tract - lying in McNairy County and bounded as follows, to
     wit:

     And being a tract of land conveyed to ROBERT CHANDLER by W. S.
     WISDOM, a part of Entry Number 1513 for 167 acres,

     Beginning at a stake and 2 hickory pointers, the most Eastern
     NorthEast corner of said Entry Number 1513, thence with the north
     boundary line of said entry to a stake, the NorthEast corner of a
     portion of said tract conveyed by said Wisdom to J. M. INGRAHAM,
     thence South with said INGRAHAM's East boundary line, crossing his
     and SHULL'S about 4 poles to a double chestnut, hickory and gum
     pointers, then East 33 poles to a Dogwood and 3 Beech pointers, then
     North 68 poles to the beginning.

     Containing 14 acres more or less said land, the said THOMAS E.
     DEVAULT, executed his several notes of hand as follows, to wit:

     One note made payable to M. CROSS & CATES dated on the 22nd day of
     April 1865 and due one day after date for $933.33 cents bearing
     interest from 17th day of January last.  

     And note made payable to M.CROSS and dated on the 22nd day of April
     1865 and due on the 17th day of January 1866 for $466.66 and bearing
     interest from the 19 January last.

     Also one other note made payable to M.CROSS dated 22nd day of April
     1865 and also on the 17th day of April 1867 for $466.67 cents with
     interest from the 17 January last until paid.

     Also one note made payable to P. CATES dates on the 22nd day of
     April 1865 and due on the 17th day of January 1866 for $466.66 cents
     bearing interest from 17 day of January 1865 until paid.

     Also one other note made payable to P. CATES dated on the 22nd day
     of April 1865 and due on the 17th day of January 1867 for $466.66
     cents bearing interest from 17 January last until paid.

     Now we bind ourselves in the sum of six thousand dollars to make or
     cause to be made unto the said THOMAS E. DEVAULT a general warranty
     deed for the above described two tracts of land so soon as he pays
     and fully pays the above notes of hand and note before given under
     our hands this 22nd day of April 1865.
