She was former member of Cumberland Presbyterian Women's Association, a former member of New Bethel Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Will and Zula King Wolfe; her husband, Lona King; and a son, Jimmy King. She is survived by two sons; Preston King and wife Lucille of Selmer and Bart King and wife Mary of Brentwood; two daughters, Cordie Taylor and husband Bill of Hickory Withe and Susie Lawson and husband Reed of Bartlett. She had eleven grandchildren, eight gr-grandchildren, on step-gr-grandson and two gr-gr-grandchildren. Mr. Gadberry was retired from Townsend Electric Motor Co. in Jackson. He was a Son of Union Veterans of the Civil War, a World War II Army Veteran and a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Levenia Lofton Gadberry; his wife, Hazel Gadberry, and a brother, Mildred Gadberry. He is survived by a son, O. M. "Mike" Gadberry of Aurora, MO; two daughters, Rhonda Brown and Karen Myers, both of Bethel Springs; a sister, Jewel Huffman of Concord, AR; and a half-brother, Charlie Curtis of Germantown. SAMMY KAY "SAM" TULL, age 51, son of the late Richard E. "Dick" and Amy Wilson Tull, died on Nov. 1, 2003 at his home in Selmer. He was born on Nov. 15 (no year was printed in the paper) in Peoria, IL. He was a loving son, brother, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his mother, Amy Tull of Selmer; two daughters, Jessica Parrott of Peoria, IL and Samantha Tull of Richland, MO; two grandsons, Matt & Justin of Peoria, IL; one sister, Nell Christian of Selmer.; one brother, Jerry Tull of East Peoria, IL; and five nephews. He worked for the Selmer Street Department. He had many friends and loved ones. He is sure going to be missed now gone to be with God. JANET HAMILTON TAYLOR, age 63, of Crystal, Minn., formerly of Tennessee, died Oct. 31, 2003. Mrs. Taylor was born in Jackson, MS on Nov. 19, 1940 to EvieOlive (nee Jones) and George M. Hamilton. Mr. Hamilton ran the Independent Appeal when it was known as the McNairy County Independent. Her parents preceded her in death. Janet lived in Tennessee, Arkansas, Arizona, and Minnesota. She was primarily a homemaker but held a variety of employment through her life. Janet married Terrence E. Taylor on Sept. 7, 1968 in San Diego, CA. They recently celebrated 35 years of marriage. In addition to her husband, Janet is also survived by a daughter, Jeanette; and uncle and aunt, Herb and Sarah Morris of Olive Branch, MS. Funeral services are Wed., Nov. 5th at 10 a.m. at Kapalo-Glodek-Malone Funeral Home. Burial is at Resurrection Cemetery in Mendota Heights, MI .............. GLENDOLA HEAVENER of Michie, 66, died Nov. 7, 2003 at her residence. Mrs. Heavener was a Dietitian for Hardin County General Hospital. She was also a hairdresser. She is survived by her mother, Odia Waddell of Michie; a son, Rodney Heavener of Michie; a daughter, Rhonda Smith of Gautier, MS; two sisters, Joy Holloway of Michie and Jeannie Tarrant of Savannah; and four brothers, Buddy Waddell of Counce, Lloyd Waddell of St. Louis, MO, Floyd Waddell and Jackie Waddell, both of Augusta, GA. MARCUS DEE SWINEY, JR of Stantonville, 72, died Nov. 9, 2003 at the VA Hospital in Memphis. Mr. Swiney was a Mechanical Engineer. He was a U. S. Air Force Veteran during the Korean Conflict era. He is survived by two daughters, Anne Gerardi of Yorba Linda, CA and Susan Swiney Frey of Bedford, TX; a niece, Candy Garrison and family; and five grandchildren, David, Sarah and Daniel Frey, and Shelby and Melissa Kightlinger. He was born in McNairy County and grew up in Chester County, the son of Gladys Imogene Woodward Clayton and the late Hoyt Malone Clayton. He attended Chester County Schools and graduated C.C.H.S in 1968. He was married to Cindy Wilson, the mother of their three daughters. He worked with his parents at Glady's Restaurant, and also worked as a painter. He was a member of the Modern Woodmen of the World and a member of Old Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. He is survived by his mother, Gladys Clayton of Bethel Springs; three daughters, Connie Beecham and husband Roy of Henderson, Christa Taylor and husband Robert of Gulf Breeze, FL and Amanda Garrison and husband Billy of Pinson; a brother, Ricky Clayton and wife Phyllis of Henderson; and seven grandchildren, Chase, Tanner and Trey Beecham; Nicholas and Reagan Taylor, Clair and Carley Garrison. He was a member of the Lebanon United Methodist Church. He was Past Master of Adamsville Masonic Lodge. He was an Army World War II Veteran, having served as a tank operator in the Battle of the Bulge. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Henry and Mattie L. Irvin Howard. He is survived by his wife, Mary Howard; two sisters, Mary O'Neal and Mary Gail Harmon, both of Savannah; and two brothers, Ed Howard and H. K. (Boots) Howard, both of Savannah. He was a graduate of Independence High School in Roswell, GA and a senior at Stetson University in DeLand, FL Matthew was preceded in death by his grandparents, Spurgeon Donahoe, Juanita Donahoe Gilchrist, Bill Gilchrist of Selmer and Ray and Sadie Beeman of Memphis. He is survived by his parents, Robert (Bob) and Linda Beeman and his sister, Sara Beeman. Funeral services were held on Sat., Nov. 1st at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Roswell Funeral Home. She was a member of the Emily Denny Division of the Engineers Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Jesse McKinnley King. He attended school in Lee County. He was a member of James A. Long Post #207. He received the Black Business Recipient Award. He worked for Dean Truck Line and Federal Compress. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and club work. He was a member of the Easom High Booster Club. He was preceded in death by his mother, Susie Jones; and a step-son, Rudolph Peterson. He is survived by his wife, Overia Coleman; three sons, John L. Coleman, Billy W. Coleman, and Geoffrey West; four daughters, Mary Pekins, Trellis Barnett, Sherri L. Batie, and Cynthia Williams; and two step-daughters, Linda Shelton and Marilyn Hall. Services were held at 12 p.m. on Nov. 12th at Macedonia Baptist, with the Reverend Lawrence Morris officiating. WILLIAM LAMAR ROSE, JR. of Adamsville, 48, died Nov. 8, 2003 at Jackson- Madison County General Hospital in Jackson. Mr. Rose was a refrigeration Engineer. He was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He is survived by his father, William Lamar Rose, Sr. of Memphis; his wife, Dianne Forbess Rose of Adamsville; a son, Chris Rose of Olive Branch, MS; three step-sons, Dwayne Holt, Daryl Holt and Dillon Holt, all of Adamsville; a step-daughter, Lisa Lyons of Jackson; a brother, David Rose of Memphis, and two sisters, Nancy Bryant of Arlington and Patty Crocker of Cordova. MARGARET FAYE JOHNSON, 58, of Bethel Springs, died Fri., Nov. 14, 2003 at McNairy County General Hospital in Selmer. The Kentucky native was a homemaker and a member of Bethel Springs Church of God. She was a daughter of the late Reverend Ivan G. Pruitt and Florence Etta Belk Pruitt. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Lynne Borden. She is survived by her husband, Larry D. Johnson of Bethel Springs; a son, William Douglas Johnson of Bethel Springs; a brother Earl Pruitt of Lexington, KY; and two sisters, Ivy DeFrance of Marshall Town, Iowa and Alma W. Baize of Scottsville, KY. She had one granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Crystal and Larry Franklin of Bethel Springs; one grandson, James D. Borden of Bethel Springs; and one gr-granddaughter, Jean Franklin of Bethel Springs. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy McKelvin and Dovie Louise Finch Robertson; and his wife, Ruth Robertson. He is survived by several nieces and nephews. He is survived by his wife, Betty J. Stewart; a son, James Stewart of Collierville; two daughters, Shirley Davis of Houston, TX and Sheila Grigsby of Hornlake, MS; two step-sons, Dennis Hopkins of Ashland, MS and Randy Hopkins of Faulkner, MS; and four step-daughters, Gina Coffey of Jackson, Angie Greer of Leaville, LA, Janet Gamble of Phoenix, AZ and Delane Dzieran of Virginia Beach, VA.
