Polly was a native of Ramer, a graduate of Ramer High School, and attended Northeast Mississippi Junior College. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and the Friendship Sunday School Class, where she served as secretary and treasurer. She was a Mississippi Licensed Funeral Director and an associate of McPeters Funeral Directors until May of 2003. She was the former owner, manager and nail technician of Headquarter Salon, and formerly a licensed real estate agent in the states of Tennessee and Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Tee Teague and Vivian Blasingame Teague; two sisters, Mary Ellen Walston and Bobbie Sue Demp; and two nephews, Jimmy Moore and Denny Demp. She is survived by her husband, Bert M. Coleman, Jr. of Corinth, MS; two daughters, Delinda Dee Cardwell of Memphis and Jennifer Jill McCollum and husband Jordan of Corinth, MS; a brother, Morris Teague and wife Ruth of Corinth, MS; and three sisters, Jean Harbeck of Sioux City, Iowa, Dot Locke and husband Dale of Ramer, and Trish Smith and husband Dennis of Selmer. He had two grandchildren, Jacob and Jillian McCollum. Other relatives included four nieces, a gr-niece, three nephews, and two step-nephews. Services were held at 4 p.m. on Tues., Sept. 30th at Christ United Methodist Church, with Brother Steve Kennedy officiating. Burial followed at Henry Cemetery. PARROTT of Selmer, 71, died Sept. 25, 2003 at Tri-County Convalescent Home. Miss Parrott was a seamstress. She was a member of Meeks Grove Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oliver and Minnie May Killingsworth Parrott. She is survived by a sister, Mary Ruth Phillips of Adamsville; and two brothers, Billy Joe Parrott and William T. Parrott, both of Adamsville. NORBERT "SHORTY" BURGESS of Selmer, 88, died Sept. 24, 2003 at McNairy Regional Hospital. Mr. Burgess was retired from the pipeline construction business. He was a member of the Purdy Lodge 132, Free & Accepted Masons (32nd Degree), Shriner's, The Order of the Eastern Star and the Pipeliners International Union. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sanford and Ida Elizabeth Dillingham Burgess; and his wife Gaytha Burgess. He is survived two daughters, Betty Henry and husband Lloyd and Bobbie Randolph and husband Neal, all of Selmer; and a sister, Martha Nell Nicholson, and husband Harry of Dyer. MOSBY of Adamsville, formerly of Collierville, 59, died Sept. 24, 2003 in Adamsville. Mr. Mosby was retired from the Millington Telephone Company and was a former employee of Wal-Mart. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was preceded in death by a sister, Bobbie Jo Mosby. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte E. Mosby; a stepdaughter, Tonya Whitney of Collierville; two sons, Mark Mosby and Brian Mosby, both of Red Banks, MS; and two stepsons, Doug Joyner and Lanc Joyner, both of Collierville; and a brother, Arthur Marion Mosby of Crofton, KY. Ms. Burkhead was a homemaker. She lived most of her life in McNairy County. She is survived by her mother, Luna Mae Watkins Moore of Leapwood; three sons, Edward Jones of Savannah, Randy Jones and Joey Burkhead, both of Saltillo; four daughters, Janice Suitor of Selmer, Brenda Holloway of Adamsville, Brandi Jo Burkhead of Savannah and Kristen Burkhead of Saltillo; three brothers, Wayne Lipford and Jimmy Lipford, both of Leapwood, and Leon Lipford of Selmer; and four sisters, Kathy Small of Lexington, Lisa Burns of Henderson, Shelia Mae Jackson of Richmond, GA and Debra Killingsworth of Shiloh. He was a World War II Veteran, a member of the Masonic Lodge #132 in Bethel Spring, AL Chymia Shriner and a member of the Scottish Rite. He was a former high school teacher in Bethel Springs, a cost analyst for the Regional Post Office and real estate agent. Mr. Patterson is survived by his wife, Kathryn Patterson of Memphis; two sons, Phillip Patterson and Allen Patterson, both of Memphis; a brother, Barney Patterson of Memphis; and a sister, Alta Murry of Selmer. VICTOR RAY PHILLIPS of Crump, 81, died Oct. 3, 2003 at Park Rest Nursing Home in Savannah. Mr. Phillips was a farmer and a factory worker. He was born in Hardin County. He was a member of Crump Pentecostal Church and Crump Senior Citizens. He was a World War II U.S. Army Veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Jean Pollard Phillips. She was a homemaker and a member of Finger Baptist Church. She was born and reared in Friendship in Crockett County. She was the daughter of the late Lonnie Palmer and Cottie Mae Harvell Palmer. She attended schools in Crockett County. In 1942 she was married to Buford A. Russom and they made their home in Finger all their married life, where Mr. Russom farmed. Mr. Russom died in 1994. She is survived by a son, Jerry Paul Russom of Finger; a daughter, Barbara Worsham of Finger; and two step-sisters, Allie Mae Miller and Grace Naylor, both of Henderson. She lived in Illinois, Tennessee, and Alabama. She made her home in Finger since 1959. She was preceded in death by three husbands, Robert "Sonny" Gill, Clinton Starnes, and Jim Gilchrist. She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Morgan of Willisville, IL and Linda Gill of Bethel Springs; and a brother, Billy Strain of Elk Heart, IN. Ms. Wilson was retired from Continental Baking Company in Memphis. She was a real daughter of the Civil War Union Veterans, her father having fought in the Civil War. She was preceded in death by her parents, Adam Franklin and Sarah Rona Moore Ingle; two infant sons; a sister, Drucillar White; and a half-sister Louivie Moore. She is survived by two daughters, Jo Hill of Selmer and Betty Vetter of Adamsville; and a sister, Faye Hickman of Bethel Springs. Mr. Griffin was a retired Mechanical Engineer at Harmon Automotive. He was a member of Central Baptist Church and a 32nd Degree Mason. The husband of Pattie Lowrance Vandiver, who survives, he was a self- employed carpenter and a Church of God Minister. Mr. Vandiver was born on May 24, 1927 in McNairy County, son of the late James Hershel Vandiver and Ora Pricilla Sanders Vandiver, and lived in the McNairy/Hardeman County area most of his life. Mrs. Scott moved to Selmer as a child and was a lifelong resident. On Oct. 17, 2003, after a long illness, Mrs. Scott died in a hospital in Arlington, TX with her son by her side. Mrs. Scott was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Annie Lou Haynes; three sisters, Pauline Robinson of Selmer, Annie Bell Kirby of Columbia and Rosalie Piercey of Selmer; two brothers. Chandler E. Haynes of Tupelo, MS and Shareon Haynes of Selmer; one son John Thomas Scott; and her husband of 50 years, L. E. "Earl" Scott. One son, Lyn E. Scott of Selmer and Arlington, TX survives. Mrs. Scott was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Selmer, where she sang in the choir for over 30 years and was a Sunday School Teacher. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, past president of the American Legion Auxiliary and a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She was frequently involved in government and political issues. She was an employee of Shackelford Funeral Directors of Selmer, and worked many years as a substitute teacher. She also worked in various stores in Selmer as a clerk and saleslady. Mrs. Scott was a devout Christian woman that never wavered in her faith and was always close to God. He was born in Morris Chapel, the son of the late Albert and Nola Jane Barnes Crumby. He farmed as a young man and later was employed by Standard Construction and B & B Construction, and later CSM Construction, until ill health caused his retirement in 1992. He was married to Sylvia Winters in 1973 and they made their home in Adamsville most of their married life.
