Mr. Anderson was Owner and President of Anderson Management in Selmer. He was a member of the Selmer First Christian Church, where he served as a Deacon and Assistant Treasurer. He was a former member of the Tennessee National Guard. He was preceded in death by his father, William Franklin Anderson, Sr. He is survived by his mother, Ann L. Clayton Anderson of Selmer; his wife, Edith Anderson; a daughter, Mindy Anderson of Selmer; two sons, William Brent Anderson of Savannah and Tanner Anderson of Selmer; and two brothers, Alan Anderson of Huntsville, AL and Marc Anderson of Selmer. Mrs. Reeves was a homemaker. She wrote an autobiography entitled, “Rachel,” approximately five or six years ago. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sidney and Dora Thompson Hawkins; two sons, Ricky Shipp and Gary Shipp; and one sister, Faye Hawkins. She is survived by her husband, Jack Reeves; a son, Paul Shipp of Interlakchen, FL; two daughters, Patricia Lieb of Selmer and Susan Wilkins of Plano, TX; six brothers, James Hawkins of Estill Springs, Sidney Hawkins of Selmer, George Berlon Hawkins of Golden, MS, Norman Hawkins of Spring Hill, Kenneth Hawkins of Phil Campbell, AL, and Ronnie Hawkins of Spruce Pine, AL; and three sisters, Jean Thompson of Monee, IL, Martha Hallman of Haleyville, AL, and Barbara Vos of Clearwater, FL. WILSON of Selmer, 102, died May 7, 2002 at Methodist LeBonheur-McNairy Hospital. Mr. Wilson was a retired farmer. He attended Curtis Hill Church of God of Prophecy, where he was a Deacon for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Franklin and Jane Howell Wilson; and two wives, Beulah Isbell Wilson and Beulah Nixon. He is survived by a son, Douglas Wilson of Selmer; and two daughters, Amy Tull and Charlene Hawkins, both of Selmer. He had eight grandchildren, twelve gr-grandchildren, and eleven gr-gr-grandchildren. Services were held at 3 p.m. on Thurs., May 9 at Shackelford Chapel in Selmer, with Ministers Jim Hutchins, Luther Massengill, and Hubert Flowers officiating. Burial followed at Curtis Hill. Cemetery. ------------------------ Born in 1945 in Cathage, EDWIN EARL DEUSNER II grew up in Lexington, where he excelled as an Eagle Scout and as an MVP on his high school football team. In 1962, he worked as a page for U. S. Senator Estes Kefauver (D-TN). He attended Union University, where he was a charter member of the Lambda Chi fraternity and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in United States History. After finishing undergraduate work, Denusner attended Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in Birmingham, AL There he met Margaret Ann Love, whom he later married in 1969. He completed training for the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General (JAG) Corps; Deusner served as a judge from 1971 until 1973, and was admitted to practice before the Tennessee and U. S. Courts of Military Appeals, as well as before the U. S. Supreme Court. In 1973, Deusner moved his family to Selmer, where he had a distinguished career as an attorney and where his service to the community extended well beyond his legal practice. In addition to performing pro bono services and his work in Real Estate and Domestic Relations law, he represented McNairy County, the City of Adamsville, and the City of Eastview. He and his family were also active in the First Baptist Church of Selmer. Aside from accepting the responsibilities of deacon and Sunday school director, he chaired the steering Committee and the Board of Deacons. Believing his duties went beyond the local level, Deusner also served as a trustee of the Tennessee Baptist Foundation. Most importantly, Deusner was a loving husband, a devoted and inspiring father, and a caring, outgoing Christian. He is survived by his wife, Ann Love Deusner of Selmer; three sons, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Earl Deusner III of Vestavia, AL, Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Maloy Deusner of Newark, DL, and Philip David Deusner of Chicago, IL; a sister, Rose Marie Carver of Memphis; and three nieces, Deirdre Carver of Nashville, Carrie Malone of Memphis, and Nancy Carver of Memphis. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Music Memorial Fund, the Building Fund of the First Baptist Church of Selmer, or to the Brain Tumor Center at Duke University. Mrs. Tull was a homemaker. She attended Mitchells Chapel Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Buford Tull; three sisters, Jewell Ray, Annie Lou Ray, and Zelma Dean Cox; and three brothers, Charles Cox, Hainon Cox, and Marvin Lee Cox. Mr. Wheeler was a retired Plant Superintendent for Brown Shoe Company. He attended St. Jude Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer, Sr. and Quincy Little Wheeler; one sister, Mary Frances Wheeler; and one brother, Edward Wheeler. He is survived by his wife, Mary Reichert Wheeler; two sons, Bill Wheeler of Prosperity, SC and Bobby Wheeler of Selmer; two daughters, Betty Wilson of Jackson and Barbara Davis of Stantonville; three brothers, Bill Wheeler and J. C. Wheeler, both of Council Bluff, Iowa, and Frank Wheeler of Little Rock, AR; and two sisters, Peggy Faulkner and Phyllis Bullington, both of Caruthersville, MO. He had six grandchildren. Mr. Tidwell was a retired truck driver for Refiners Inc. of Joliet, IL. He was a member of First Christian Church in Selmer and of the VFW in Bolivar, and an Army Veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Newman Tidwell and Ida Laura Grimm Tidwell; and two brothers, Ralph Tidwell and Elmo Tidwell. He is survived by his wife, Mary Alice Tidwell; three sons, Jimmy E. Tidwell of Hornsby, Tony N. Tidwell of Bolivar, and Charles Bernard Tidwell, II of Selmer; three daughters, Jacqueline Dodd and Laura Sue Osborn, both of Hornsby, and Nancy Ellen Patterson of Bolivar; and three sisters, Roselyn Brown of Atoka, and Virginia Crump and Elouise Tidwell of Bolivar. Mr. Moffett was a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of local 150 International Union of Operating Engineers. Mr. Griswell was a truck driver. He belonged to the Selmer Moose Lodge, The Elks Lodge in Henderson, and the National Guard. He was preceded in death by his father, James Atlas Griswell; and two brothers, Nathaniel Griswell and Wayne Griswell. He is survived by his mother, Manie Fowler Griswell of Bethel Springs; two sons, Darrell Griswell of Finger and Ronald Griswell of Henderson; and three sisters, Jo Griswell Beard of Selmer, and Doris Lipford and Ermie M. Robert Jetton officiating. Burial followed at the Lebanon Methodist Church Cemetery in Michie Mr. Cunningham a Michie native, died May 29, 2002 at home in Michie, after a lengthy illness. He was born in Michie on Oct. 30, 1914. He attended Michie High School, Freed-Hardeman College in Henderson, Memphis State University in Memphis, and Indiana University in Bloomington, IN. Mr. Cunningham retired in 1970 from the Lansing, IL public school system where he served as Assistant Superintendent and Superintendent from 1959 to 1970. After retirement Mr. Cunningham spent his time farming, fishing on the Tennessee River at Pickwick Dam, and taking care of his family. Survivors include his wife, Otis Kiser Cunningham, born and raised in Bethel Springs; a son, Ralph Cunningham of Florence, AL, and another son, Ray Cunningham of Marietta, GA. He was preceded in death by a brother, Rufus Cunningham of Pickwick Dam. He also leaves a brother, David Cunningham of Michie; and two sisters, Mae Smith and Katherine Marlar, both of Michie. He leaves six grandchildren, Natalie Sleeper, Jim Cunningham, Natasha McCrary, Josh Cunningham, Jamie Cunningham, and Jessie Cunningham; and four gr-grandchildren, Reagan Cunningham, Caroline Sleeper, Waggoner McCrary and Payne Sleeper. She had twenty-four grandchildren, and nine gr-grandchildren. She also had many nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Services were held at 3 p.m. on May 30 at Pinecrest Baptist Church, with Rev. L. and Tilda Flinn Wren; two brothers, Bruce and Rubel Wren, and three sisters, Effie Nichols, Jewel Lee and Myrtle Cantrell. She is survived by two sons, L. C. Evans and Ricky Evans, both of Corinth, MS; and two daughters, Barbara Evans of Corinth, MS and Shirley Brooks of Knoxville. She had five grandchildren, and two gr-grandchildren. Mr. Howell was born on Oct. 31, 1925, in McNairy County. He was the son of the late William R. and Jessie E. King Howell and was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Virginia Lee Pierce Howell. Mr. Howell was a member of the Hornsby Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Union of Operating Engineers. He was retired from H. C. Price Construction Company where he worked in pipeline construction. He is survived by three daughters, Gloria Howell of Martin, Cheryl Howell of Hornsby, and Lynn Howell of Memphis, one son, Danny Howell of Hornsby, two sisters, Jewell Waddell of Tuscumbia, AL, Verble Nixon of Selmer, and two grandchildren, Matthew Howell and Zachary Howell. Mr. Cherry was born and reared in the Talley Store Community of Chester County, the son of the late Robert Long and Sarah Eliza Bishop Cherry. He attended Chester County schools and in January 1944 entered the U. S. Army and served in combat infantry in the European Theatre, and returned in March on 1946. That same year he was married to Joyce Marie Wood and they made their home in the Talley Store Community all their married lives, where Mr. Cherry farmed. He also worked for the State Hwy. Dept. for several years in the 1950's and 60's. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Mrs. Cherry died in 1991. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Kay Mayfield in March of this year; and by a sister, Susie Johnson. He is survived by one son, Danny Joe Cherry and wife Emily of Finger; a son-in-law, Rayford Mayfield of Finger; two daughters, Sue Ross and husband Larry of Bartlett, and Patsy Smith and husband Johnny Wayne of Finger; and a brother, Edward Cherry of Henderson.
