Mrs. Swinney had been a resident of the Coast for 21 years and was the owner and operator of Domestic Housekeeping Service in Biloxi for four years and was the manager of the Dining Hall at Keesler Air Force Base for several years. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Woolmarket. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Quixie Foote; a brother, Buddy Foote. Survivors include her husband, Charles Swinney of Biloxi; a daughter, Sherry Wilson of Saucier; a son, Jay Callis of Memphis; three sisters, Frances McCullar and Juanita Kennedy, both of Selmer, Tenn., and Barbara Jernigan of Meridianville, Ala; a brother, William E. Foote, Jr. of Selmer; and two grandsons. Visitation was held Fri. At the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O;'Keefe Funeral Home in Biloxi. A service will be at 2 p.m. today at St. Mary's Catholic Church where friends may call from 12:30- p.m. until service time. Burial will be in White Plains Methodist Church Cemetery. They made their home in and around Finger and Chester County. Mr. Plunk worked as a contractor and farmed all his life until retiring in 1973. He attended school at Center Hill, Milledgeville, and Morris Chapel High School in 1938 as class salutatorian. Mr. O'Neal was a retired farmer, local historian and poet. He was a faithful member of the Enville Church of Christ for almost half a centure, where he served as teacher, songleader, and treasurer for many years. He wrote many poems about nature, travel, sports, politics, and religion. He was the author of two books; "Walking Down Memories Lane" and "Selected Gems of Wit and Wisdom" He also wrote booklets on such local history topics as O'Neal Cemetery and the Wild Goose (Enville) community. He received an "Award of Recognition" from the Famous Poets Society in 1996 for his poem, "We I Go To Church" In 1990, Freed-Hardeman University presented him with a Recognition of Service Award during chapel services and places a number of his poems in the school library. Mr. O'Neal was a veteran of the World War II period and a member of the American legion Post 98 at Milledgeville. He was a member of the McNairy County Farm Bureau and the Adamsville Senior Citizens Center. He was also a member of the Tennessee Historical Society. Mr. O'Neal was preceded in death by his parents, two sister, Exie O'Neal and Ethel Plunk, and two brothers, Eckard O'Neal and J. H. O'Neal.
