MISC. INFORMATION FROM MINUTES OF GARFIELD POST No. 25

The following information of genealogical significance was transcribed

from the minutes by Larry H. Barker.

(Surname Index begins on page 18)

The first Garfield Post ledger measuring 11 3/4 x 7 1/4 is very old and frail dating back to 1896. The first 34 pages of the ledger list the members from 1896 - 1898. Pages 36 - 199 are devoted to minutes of the meetings from January 12, 1901 - January 2, 1915. There are numerous newspaper articles relating to national, state, and local encampments of the GAR and obituaries of Garfield Post members from the Athenian pasted to pages through out the ledger.

The second Garfield Post ledger measuring 4 3/4 x 7 5/8 dates from December 6, 1920 through December 25, 1925. The minutes from this ledger do not provide as much information as the first ledger. The members present, who opened the meeting along with the reading of the previous minutes is basically the content of each meeting. There were thirteen members in 1921 which are listed at the end of this information.
