~ Macon County Historical & Genealogical Society ~
The purpose of this organization is to bring together those people interested in history and genealogy, especially in Macon County, to obtain and copy old deeds, ledgers, diaries, Bible records, church minutes and court records for preservation. Their main function will be to discover and collect any material which may help to establish or illustrate the history of the area: its exploration, settlement and activities. Through the efforts of the Society members, many projects have successfully been accomplished to preserve these historic records and documents.
