Families and locations of the children in the 1900 school photo (Pony Dickson- teacher):
The names of each of the persons in the 1900 Jackson County, Tennessee school photo were written on the back of
the photo just as I have recorded below, with the exception that anything in parentheses ( ) or brackets [ ] was
added by me based on the census information for the year 1900. There are several names in this list that are not
linked to the census information below. I don't know who they are, and could not find them in any other records
yet.
This is an attempt to identify the persons in the photo and to show their families and relations at the time of the photo, 1900. In Jackson County, Terrell Byrne had married Mary Jane Spurlock whose sister, Martha Tennessee Spurlock, had married Alford Wade, the brother of Downey Wade Sr. The father of the Spurlock children here is Alfred Spurlock, a nephew to Martha Tennessee Spurlock. The common Spurlock ancestor being Josiah. The Byrnes here are the grandchildren of Terrell Byrne. There is intermarriage with the Browns, and Williamsons, to Wades and Spurlocks. All these lived close together as can be seen from the census districts and household numbers. I have not found "Pony Dickson", the teacher, in the 1900 census.

Boyd Bell was not in the 1900 census in Jackson County- unless he was the "George" Bell brother to Bonair "Bonny" Bell in district 11. If he is the same person as George, then the age in the 1900 census is wrong. Boyd Bell does appear in district 5, married and age 24, in the 1910 census of Jackson County, household 283/294, living next door to a Bonell Bell.
