Hancock County was formed in 1844 from Hawkins and Claiborne Counties.  The county seat is Sneedville.  The county lies in East Tennessee and is bordered by  ClaiborneGrainger & Hawkins Counties.  Hancock is a burned county, and there is no early records available for it.
