Edmund TAYLOR Will

State of TN ; Gibson Co.

I Edmund TAYLOR being weak in body but of sound sound mind and memory taking in consideration the uncertainty of life do make and ordain this my last will and testament viz Item 1st It is my wish that my body be buried in decent and Christian like manner.  Item 2nd It is my wish and desire that my negro man Lewis be taken off and sold by some good trust man, viz, Cullin WRIGHT if he would do it.  If not some other good man.  The proceeds of which is to be equally divided amongst my wife and children.  Item 3rd This also my wish and desire that my perishable property be sold and the proceeds of which after paying all my just debts be divided equally amongst my wife and children.  Item 4th It is further my wish and desire that all my land be equally divided amongst my wife and children.  Item 5th  It is further more my wish and desire that all my slaves the exemption of Lewis who is disposed of in section or item 2nd be equally divided amongst my wife and children.  Item 6th  It is my wish and desire that Peter L DOZIER and Thomas COOPER be my executors to carry out this my last will and testament signed in the presence of Peter L Dozier and James T Bone this Sixth day of September 1854.
