Dear brother and sister,
We embrace the present opportunity of addressing you with a few lines which
will inform you that myself and family are comforted with the blessing of
good health at present for which we feel truly thankful hoping these few
lines may find you all the happy recippiants of the same blessing.
The last letter which I have received from you was dated July 1st, 1832
and stated you were all well which news was very consoling to us though
it would be a greater consolation to us to see and converse verbily with
you.
Notwithstanding you have given one such a death blow concerning my great
desire for riches and but little to see you all yet. I would have you to
know that it is not the multiplicity of riches or even the gold and silver
of this world that could ever abate my sympathies to my mother or even my
dear brother and sister and if circumstances would permit I doubtless would
not the least regret the tediousness and experience of the journey nor
recoil at the toils and difficulties under which I should have to labor
in the performance of the same but would take the greatest pleasure in
visiting you but I must render the same apology which I have hitherto done
that my business is yet so unsettled that I must inevitably attend to it or
doubtless suffer
great loss by the neglect of the same but perhaps if you will come next
spring to see us I probably can make arrangements to return with you.
Please be sol kind as to write to me immediately and let me know the health
and prosperity of the connection and give our respect to them and write
occasionally and I will do the same and let us keep up a free intercourse
by letter and I charge you in particular to give my kindest respect to my
mother if she be yet alive and in writing to me please let me know whether
my mother be yet living or not and if so let me know her state of health
& condition.
Robert and Elizabeth Franklin and family are well. William and Alfred are
both married, William to Elizabeth Welch and Alfred to Rebecca Campbell the
daughter of Robert Campbell. Our youngest son is about 12 months old, we
call him by the name of Jefferson Green. I desiring building another mill
on the north Fork of Forkeden next summer, there was an act past last
Legistlator for my benefit in that respect.
I will repeat it again that I desire you to write to me immediately and
direct your letter to Popular Gove Post Office nothing more at present
but remain your kind and affectionate brother and sister until death.
John
and Polly Page
Written by Alfred F. Page who feels desirious to offer his bnign respects
to the connection and would wish to be remembered in your addresses.
