The Fox Family Cemetery is located between Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and
the historic Skullbone Store near Dowland-Hampton Farms. There were never
any marble or granite tombstones there, to the knowledge of the older folks
in the area, but there was at one time a number of sandstone markers. When
the road was put between Mt. Pleasant and Skullbone, the cemetery was
directly in its path. They took up the sandstones and paved the road right
on top of those resting there. It was in use until the early 1900s.
There
is today no trace of the cemetery, which is in front of John E. Holt's
house.
