MABEL McKNIGHT
Mable [sic] Scott McKnight, 62, wife of Lloyd McKnight, died Wednesday at Gibson General Hospital. Services were at 2 p.m. Friday at United Pentecostal Church with burial in Oakland Cemetery. Hunt Funeral Home had charge.  She also leaves a son, William L. McKnight of Dyer, two daughters, Mrs. Walter B. Burkett of Memphis and Mrs. Linda Fay Kellow of Trenton; two brothers, Gene Scott and William Scott, both of Trenton, and a sister, Mrs. Jessie May Casey of Linden.

FLOYD HARPER
Floyd Harper, 60, a Gibson County Highway Department employee, died Sunday morning at his home.
Services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Holmes Funeral Home chapel with burial in Oakland Cemetery here.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Gladys Hendrix Harper; four sons, Donald Lee Harper and Robert Wayne Harper, both of Trenton, Ralph Winston Harper of Milan; and Ray Lynn Harper, with the Army in Germany; 
two daughters, Mrs. Marilyn Ruth Truett and Miss Barbara Ann Harper, both of Trenton; two brothers, L. H. Harper of Blytheville, Ark., and E. D. Harper of Waverly; and a sister, Mrs. Lettie Byrd of West Memphis.

BROWN RICHARDSON
Services for Brown Richardson, 61, were at 2 p.m. Friday at Holmes Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Bobby Parker and Rev. Bill Evans officiating. Burial was in Old Gibson Cemetery.
Mr. Richardson died Wednesday afternoon at the Gibson General Hospital in Trenton.
He was born in Perry County, moving to Gibson County when he was four years old. He had been an employee of the Gibson County Highway Department for 23 years, and was a member of the Fruitland Baptist Church.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Thelma Richardson; a son, Joe Richardson of Memphis; two brothers, John and James Richardson, both of Chicago; two half brothers, Jack Richardson of Chicago and Riley Peague 
[should be Pigg or Pigue] of San Jose, Calif.; two grandchildren.

EWELL ROBERTS
Funeral services for Ewell Roberts, 81, were at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Holmes Funeral Home in Trenton with Tom Holland officiating. Burial was in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Mr. Roberts died Friday at the Gibson General Hospital in Trenton after a five-week illness.
He was a member of the Dorris Chapel Church of Christ, where he was an Elder.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Carrie Hall Roberts; a daughter, Mrs. Woodrow Lancaster of Trenton; a brother, Jesse Roberts of Trenton; a sister, Mrs. Fannie Davis of Humboldt; two grandchildren and five great 
grandchildren.

JOHN PIPKIN
Funeral services for Johnny Gilbert Pipkin, 58, were held at 2:00 Tuesday at Shelton Funeral Home. Burial was in Harrison Cemetery.
Mr. Pipkin was born in Perry County and moved to Gibson County some 50 years ago.
He died Sunday night of injuries from a car wreck on Highway 54 north of Trenton.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ota Wilma Pipkin; his mother, Mrs. Lila Pipkin of Trenton; a daughter, Miss Betty Pipkin of Trenton; two sons, Thomas Pipkin of Trenton and Johnny Pipkin of Trenton; a stepdaughter, 
Brenda Carroll of Dyer; a stepson, Allen [should be Alan] Warmath of Dyer; four sisters, Mrs. Ruby Choate of Trenton; Mrs. Delpha Williams of Dyer; Mrs. Brownie McGee of Dyer and Mrs. Dean Lomax of 
Linden, Tennessee; four brothers, Ruford Pipkin of Trenton; Floyd Pipkin, J. W. Pipkin and Billy Pipkin, all of Dyer; and one grandchild.

BILL FULLER
Funeral services for Bill Fuller, 51, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom Hargrove officiating. Burial was in Oakhaven Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Fuller died Thursday morning at Gibson General Hospital after a long illness.
Mr. Fuller was a retired grocer. A native of Gibson County, he was a Baptist.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mildred Patterson Fuller of Trenton; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Joy Hunter of Halls and Mrs. June Reynolds of Cades; a stepson, Donald Sanders of Chicago; two sisters, 
Mrs. Tommie Harrison of Dyersburg and Mrs. Bobbie Jo Anderson of Dresden; two brothers, William Fuller of Trenton and Douglas Fuller of Central; 10 step grandchildren and three step great grandchildren.

JOHN "PETE" HARRISON
Funeral services for John E. (Pete) Harrison, 65, were held at 2:00 Monday at Shelton Funeral Home with the Revs. Allen Wolfe and Glen Kesterson officiating. Burial was in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Mr. Harrison, a retired Brown Shoe worker, was a member of the Follis Chapel Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Maurine Harrison of Trenton; his mother, Mrs. Della Harrison of Milan; three daughters, Mrs. Nancy Crouse of Dyer, Mrs. Faye Lovelace of Trenton and Mrs. Gaye Bittinger of 
Cincinnati, Ohio; four brothers, Aubrey Harrison of Milan, Carl Harrison of Dyer, Carmen Harrison of Trenton and Buster Baling of Alamo; a son, Tom Milligan of Carpentersville, Illinois, and 15 grandchildren.

WALTON TRACY
Funeral services for Walton Tracy, 79, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hillcrest Baptist church with the Revs. James E. Tate and Kenneth Sparkman officiating. Burial was in Walnut Grove Cemetery with Shelton Funeral Home in charge.
Mr. Tracy, a retired grocery clerk with 40 years' service, died Thursday night at Memorial Hospital.
He was a native of Perry County, moved about 60 years ago to Gibson County and was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Fanny Mae Tracy; a daughter, Mrs. Avenelle Lewis of Columbus, Miss.; two sons, Buck Tracy of Trenton and Walton Tracy, Jr. of Memphis; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Loraine Dunn of Cedar Grove and Mrs. Ruby Hart of Brookhaven, Miss.; a sister, Mrs. Bessie Parker of Trenton; 10 grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.

ROBERT POWELL
Funeral services for Robert Cook Powell were held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Spring Hill Missionary Baptist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery with H. H. Hudson Funeral Home of Dyersburg in charge.
Mr. Powell, a farmer, died Friday evening at his home apparently after suffering a heart attack.
Surviving are seven sons, Bobby Darnell Powell, Marcus Thomas Powell and Webb Arnold, all of Elkhart, Ind., Stanley Roosevelt Powell and Lonnie S. Arnold, both of Kansas City, Mo., Otha Lee Powell of Spring Hill, and James Price Powell of Jackson; three daughters, Mrs. Helen Magee of Elkhart, Miss Sherry D. Powell of Jackson, and Mrs. Rudolph Fisher of Trenton; two brothers, James Rufus Powell and Archie T. Powell, both of South Bend, Ind.; a sister, Mrs. Christine Elam of Trenton; 24 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

MRS. FRANCES CLARKE
Graveside services for Mrs. Frances Banks Clarke, 76, were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Oakland Cemetery with the Rev. Walter Lockhart officiating. Shelton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Clarke, a retired bookkeeper for the former Trenton Wholesale Grocery, died Monday afternoon at Gibson General Hospital after a short illness.
She was a lifelong resident of Gibson County and the widow of King Clarke. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Patsy C. Baker of Chattanooga; three sisters, Mrs. Mildred Cragon of Atlanta, Mrs. Opal Hunt of Gulfport, Miss., and Mrs. Mary Emma Hunt of Hattiesburg, Miss. and two grandchildren.

MRS. IMA MILLIGAN
Funeral services for Mrs. Ima Pate Milligan, 85, were held at 10:00 p.m. [probably should be a.m.] Tuesday, December 20, at Shelton Funeral Home with the Revs. Bob Tipton and William Boyar officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery.
Mrs. Milligan died December 18 at Gibson General Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was born in Bridgeport, Texas and moved to Gibson County as a child. She was active in the Hickory Grove Baptist Church, teaching a Sunday School class, and Greenview Community Club. Mrs. Milligan taught school at Rutherford and Medina for a number of years.
Survivors include: four daughters, Mrs. Etta M. Cole of Jackson, Mrs. Dee M. Quarles of Nashville, Mrs. Morgan Watt of Trenton, and Mrs. Herbert Larsen of Oak Ridge, TN; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

V. T. SEWELL
Funeral services for V. T. Sewell, 78, were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 20, at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. Otis Smothers officiating. Burial was in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Mr. Sewell died December 19 at Gibson General Hospital after a long illness. Mr. Sewell, a retired farmer, was a lifelong resident of Gibson County and a member of Olive Branch Methodist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Shirley Bailey of Trenton, Mrs. Brenda Hunt of Dyer, Mrs. Helen Lomax of Trenton; two sons, Jimmy Sewell of Dyer and Bobby Sewell of Milan; a sister, Mrs. Fanchon Knox of Milan; a brother, Wynn Sewell of Dyer; 16 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

ERBY EARL POWELL
Funeral services for Erby Earl Powell, 77, were held at 2:00 p.m. February 8 at Keely Mill Baptist Church with Karnes and Son Funeral Home in charge and Brother Tim Jones of Union City officiating. Burial was in Poplar Grove Cemetery.
Mr. Powell died February 6 at Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. Mr. Powell, a lifelong resident of Gibson County, was a retired farmer and landowner and a member of Keely Mill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lattie Powell of Trenton; a daughter [should be son], Connie Powell of Dyer; six sons, Erby Powell, Jr. of Dyer, Bill Powell of Dyer, Aubrey Powell of Trenton, Bobby Powell of Trenton, Kenneth Powell of Memphis, and Lyndell Powell of Belvidere, Ill.; two brothers, Bruce Powell of Trenton and Hollis Powell of Bradford; three sisters, Bernice Martin of Trenton, Elvie Hickman of Trenton, and Christine Cates of Bradford; 27 grandchildren, and 30 great grandchildren.


JAMES PETER DYCUS
Funeral services were held Thursday, Feb. 19, at 10:30 a.m. for James Peter Dycus, 73, of Dyer at the Dyer Chapel of Karnes & Son Funeral Home. Paul Barkley of Dyer officiated. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery with Karnes & Son Funeral Home in charge.
Mr. Dycus died Feb. 8 at Nu-Care Convalescent Center following a lengthy illness. He was a life-long resident of Gibson County and a veteran of World War II.
He is survived by three sons, Bobby L. Dycus of French Camp, Calif., Harland Dycus of Dyer and Jerry W. Dycus of Lodi, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Grady Eddlemon of Trenton and Mrs. Randle Crawford of Southaven, Miss.,; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren; two brothers, Dillard Dycus of California and Devon Dycus of Dyer; two sisters, Mrs. Ollie Ramsey and Margaret London, both of Dyer.


JEWELL P. LAW
Funeral services for Mrs. Jewell Elizabeth Law, 73, were held Friday at Marmony Primitive Baptist Church with Elders Thomas Tolley and T. L. Webb officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with Shelton Funeral Home in charge.
Mrs. Law, a retired department store clerk, died Wednesday night at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital after a long illness.
She was a Trenton native and a member of Harmony Church.
Surviving are her husband, R. L. Law; a daughter, Mrs. Carlos Dunn of Milan; a son, Robert Law of West Memphis, Ark.,; a sister, Mrs. Iris Price of Trenton; a brother, Elmer Phelan; seven grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.


MICHAEL CAIN FISCHER
Graveside for Michael Cain Fischer, 3 month and 23 day old infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard C. Fischer of Jackson, were held at 2:00 p.m. February 7 with Karnes and Son Funeral Home in charge and Brother Thomas Bullock officiating. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery.
Michael died February 4 at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital after a lengthy illness.
He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard C. Fischer of Jackson, and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Fischer of Pittsburg, Pa., Dimple Mosley of Dyer and Harold Mosley of Camden.

MRS. GAYLE COTHAM
Funeral services for Mrs. Gayle Lee Cotham, 48, were held at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. Gordon Henderson officiating. Burial was in White Rose Cemetery in Gibson.
Mrs. Cotham, an office employee of Brown Shoe Co., died May 11 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital after a short illness.
She was a native of Gibson County and a member of Trenton United Methodist Church.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Cathy Colbert of Port St. Joe, Fla., Miss Jo Blair Cotham and Miss Gay Cotham, both of Trenton; a son, Robert Brown Cotham of Trenton; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Brown Parker of Trenton; a sister, Mrs. Dorislyn Crafton; a brother, Frank Parker of Trenton, and three grandchildren.


OWEN TRUETT
Funeral services for Owen "Shorty" Truett, 69, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Shelton Funeral Home with Rev. James Pate officiating. Burial was in Dyer's Oakwood Cemetery.
Mr. Truett, a retired car reconditioner, was found dead Thursday morning at his home after suffering an apparent heart attack.
He was a Trenton native and a member of Griers Chapel United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Annie Truett; two sons, Jerry Truett of Lawrenceburg and Danny Truett of Union City; a sister, Mrs. Edna Pearl Strickland of Hot Springs, Ark.; three grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.


MRS. MENTIE TURNER
Funeral services for Mrs. Mentie Ellen Turner, 77, were held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. James Thornton officiating. Burial was in Oakhaven Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Turner, widow of Wesley Turner, died Monday night at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital after a long illness.
She was a native of Trenton and a member of Trenton United Pentecostal Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Lois Mathis of Trenton and Mrs. Dorothie Eakes of Kenton; a sister, Mrs. Leo Graham of McEwen; a brother, Burford Conner of Hohenwald; three grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.


ARNOLD MAGEE
Funeral services for Arnold Franklin Magee, 69, of Dyer, were held at 3:00 p.m. May 15 at Karnes and Son Funeral Home in Dyer with Brother Bobby Garland officiating. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery.
Mr. Magee died of a sudden illness at his home on May 11, He was a retired Dyer Fruit Box Manufacturing Company employee.
Survivors include his wife, Brownie Magee of Dyer; a son, Royce Magee of Jackson; two daughters, Mrs. Patsy Somers of Rutherford and Miss Pam Magee of Dyer; a sister, Miss Louise Magee of Linden; three brothers, Joe B. Magee of Warren, Ohio, Brown D. Magee of Massillon, Ohio and Bardell Magee of Linden, and four grandchildren.

HOWARD ALEXANDER
Funeral services for Howard Edgar Alexander, 72, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronald Allen officiating. Burial was in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Mr. Alexander, a farmer and businessman, died Monday night at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital after a short illness.
He was a lifelong resident of Gibson County and a member of First United Methodist Church, serving as secretary of the Men's Bible Class for 25 years. He also served on the church's Administrative Council and was a former member of the Trenton Lions Club.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lorene Mathis Alexander; two daughters, Mrs. Patty Howe of Starkville, Miss, and Mrs. Kay Gibbs of Brownsville; three brothers, Joe Alexander of Trenton, Lonnie Alexander of Dyer, and Bill Alexander of Houston; a half brother, Jessie Aker of California; a half sister, Miss Thelma Aker of Arkansas, and three grandchildren.


JIMMY MITCHELL
Funeral services for James Mitchell, 75, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Oak Grove United Methodist Church with the Revs. Steve Spitzer, David Snipes and Clyde Hamilton officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with Shelton Funeral Home in charge.
Mr. Mitchell, a retired farmer and livestock breeder, died Friday evening at Cedar Crest Hospital in Humboldt after a short illness.
The Gibson County native was a member of Oak Grove Church.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary Alice Mitchell of Trenton; a son, Marion "Bub" Mitchell of Trenton; four grandchildren, J. Michael Mitchell of Humboldt, Mrs. Suzanne Mitchell Griggs of Trenton, Mrs. Mollie Mitchell Taylor of Rives and Miss Margaret Mitchell of Trenton, and two great grandchildren, Micki and Nick Taylor, both of Rives. A son, James R. Mitchell, preceded him in death on November 15, 1976.


BRUCE ADAMS
Funeral services for Bruce Adams, 84, were held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Spring Hill Baptist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery with Shelton Funeral Home in charge.
Mr. Adams, a retired farmer, died Tuesday night at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
He was a lifelong resident of Gibson County and a member of Spring Hill Church.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary Carlton Adams; three daughters, Mrs. Anne Ector of Novato, Calif., Mrs. Peggy Guill of Memphis, and Mrs. Ada Jean Roberts of Humboldt; three sons, Bruce Carlton Adams and Randy Adams, both of Trenton, and Taylor Adams of Atwood; a sister, Mrs. Fannie Carlton of Trenton, 16 grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.


MRS. FAYE ALLEN WHARTON
Graveside services for Mrs. Faye Allen Wharton were held on Thursday, December 8, in Union City at 10:00.
Mrs. Wharton died Tuesday, December 6, at Sunny View Health Care Center in Nashville after a long illness.
She was reared in Fruitland, Tennessee. She married R. G. Wharton, and they made their home in Union City. Mr. Wharton preceded her in death in 1971.
Mrs. Wharton was a member of the First Baptist Church and was active in church work. She was a member of the Eastern Star and Home Demonstration Clubs and did much work with Senior Citizens.
She was a sister of the late Lance Allen of Trenton and visited in Trenton many times. She is survived by one brother, Virgil Allen of Humboldt; a nephew, Tim Allen of Henderson; and a stepson, Bobby Wharton, Jr. of Nashville.


Although the clipping does not include the issue date of the paper, the back side has the following, "Medicare costs jump again……now you pay more. As of January 1, 1984 your Medicare Deductible will increase again." For this reason, I believe this is a February 1984 issue of The Herald Gazette.
ROBIE MOORE
Funeral services for Robie Moore, 69, were held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 23, at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Howard officiating. Burial was in Oakhaven Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Moore died February 21 at Memphis Veterans Medical Center after a short illness.
Mr. Moore, who was born in Decatur County before moving to Gibson County as a child, was a veteran of World War II. He served in the European Theater and was injured while crossing the Rhine River. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW and First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Margaret Harp Moore, of Trenton; a son, James L. Moore of Trenton; two sisters, Mrs. Golden Hackett of Union City and Miss Lessie Moore of Union City; four brothers, Obie Moore of Mason Hall, J. G. Moore of Union City, Lewis Moore of Huntingdon and Sam Moore of Hornbeak, and two grandchildren.


MISS ERA MOORE
Funeral services for Miss Era J. Moore, 80, formerly of Trenton, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Jamimah Chapel Second Cumberland Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Roscoe E. Myles officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with Rawls and Baskerville Funeral Home in charge.
Miss Moore died Wednesday morning at a Milwaukee hospital after suffering an apparent heart attack.
She was a native of Gibson County, but had lived 30 years in Milwaukee and the past 20 years in Trenton before moving back to Milwaukee last October. She was a member of Jamimah Chapel Church.
Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Geraldine Doaks of Trenton and Miss Mary Moore of Humboldt, and two brothers, Charlie Moore of Trenton and Louis Moore of Milwaukee.


HORACE SHIVERS
Funeral services for John Horace Shivers, 89, were held Monday at Shelton Funeral Home with ministers Bill Smith and Reeder Oldham officiating. Burial was in Bowers Chapel Cemetery.
Mr. Shivers, a farmer and landowner, was found dead at his home Sunday morning after suffering an apparent heart attack.
He was a native of Crockett County, but had lived most of his life in Gibson County, where he was a member of Christian Chapel Church of Christ.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Maurene Young of Nashville and Mrs. Doris Humphreys of Trenton; three sons, Millard Shivers of Richardson, Texas, Harold Shivers of Somerville and Chester Shivers of Oxford, Miss.; two sisters, Mrs. Nina Jones and Mrs. Eva Milam, both of Alamo; a brother, Hubert Shivers of Kingsport; 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.


SAM GUY
Funeral services for Sam Davidson Guy, 84, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Shelton Funeral Home with the Revs. Marlon Stevens and Bob Tipton officiating. Burial was in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Mr. Guy, a retired automobile dealer, died about noon Sunday at Gibson General Hospital after a long illness.
He was a native of Dyer, moved to Portage, Mo. in 1940, moved to Humboldt after his retirement in 1972 and had lived the past four years in Trenton. He was a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Nina Lannom Guy; two sisters, Mrs. Virgie Stewart of Dyer and Mrs. Irene Patterson of Rutherford.

B. FRANK JONES
Services for B. Frank Jones, 84, were at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronald Allen officiating, Burial was in Oakland Cemetery.
Mr. Jones, a retired dry cleaning store owner, died Friday afternoon at Memorial Hospital after a short illness.
He was a lifelong resident of Gibson County and a retired member of the board of directors of Trenton Federal Savings & Loan Association, which has since been renamed Century Federal Savings & Loan. He was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lurline Combs Jones; two sons, Murray Jones of Trenton and Mitchell Jones of Jonesboro, Ark.; a daughter, Mrs. Fred Mabry of Trenton; a brother, Robert Jones of Trenton; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.


BUFORD "BOOTS" GARNER
Services for Buford "Boots" Garner, 68, were Thursday at Bowlin Funeral Home in Dresden with the Rev. Paul Griffin officiating. Burial was in Sunset Cemetery in Dresden.
Mr. Garner, a retired auto dealer, died Tuesday night apparently of a heart attack while at an automobile auction business in Paris. He was pronounced dead at Henry County General Hospital, a family spokesman said.
He was a native of Henry County, had lived most of his life in Weakley County and most recently in Trenton. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Brenda Glover.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Bertha Garner; a sister, Mrs. Mary Nell Adams of Union City; two brothers, H. L. Garner of Martin and Marshall Tucker Garner of Phoenix, Ariz.; a grandson, Bob Glover of Martin; and a great granddaughter Miss Laine Glover of Martin.


MRS. LUCY ANDERSON
Graveside services for Mrs. Lucy Elizabeth Anderson, 83, were at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Oakwood Cemetery in Brownsville with the Rev. Ron Whitten officiating. Shelton Funeral Home of Trenton was in charge.
Mrs. Anderson, a retired school teacher, died Saturday morning at Gibson General Hospital in Trenton after a long illness.
The widow of Dr. Robert Lee Anderson, she was born and reared in Gibson County where she taught 26 years in the county school system. She was a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church.
Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Mary C. Adams of Trenton, and two brothers, Filder Carlton of Dukedom and James Carlton of Guntersville, Ala.


FULTON CAVANESS
Services for George Fulton Cavaness, 83, were at 2 p.m. Friday at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronald Allen officiating. Burial was in Davidson Chapel Cemetery near Trenton.
Mr. Cavaness, a retired electrician, died about noon Wednesday at Gibson General Hospital after a short illness.
He was a lifelong Gibson County resident and a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary Cook Cavaness; and a sisters, Mrs. Bessie Thompson of Trenton.


MRS. SUDIE B. TAYLOR
Services for Mrs. Sudie Bell Taylor, 83, were at 2 p.m. Sunday at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Orr officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery.
Mrs. Taylor, a homemaker, died Friday at City of Milan Hospital after a long illness.
The widow of Jasper Taylor, Jr., she was a lifelong resident of Gibson County and a member of First Baptist Church. She had served as state district chairman of the Tennessee Farm Bureau.
Surviving are a daughter, Miss Bettye Taylor of Trenton; a son, Jasper Taylor III of Alamo; seven grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Mr. Whittaker died Wednesday morning at his home in Trenton.
He is survived by several cousins.

Mrs. Qualls died early Friday at the Gibson General Hospital after a long illness.

ANNIE TODD
Funeral services for Mrs. Annie Todd, 69, wife of Homer Todd, were held Wednesday afternoon at Bodkin Funeral Home in Milan with the Rev. Glenn Elliott officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery in Humboldt. Mrs. Todd died Tuesday morning at Jackson-Madison County Hospital after a long illness.
Mrs. Todd spent most of her life in and around Gibson and Humboldt. She was a member of the Gibson United Methodist Church.
She leaves her husband; three sisters, Mrs. Wilson Rodgers, Mrs. Herman Mathis, both of Gibson, and Mrs. Irma Florman of Humboldt; three brothers, Stokey Barrix, Albert Barrix and Clarence Barrix of Humboldt; and several nieces and nephews.

LAWSON ESTES
Funeral services for Lawson L. Estes were held at the Gibson United Methodist Church Saturday at 3 p.m. with the pastor, Rev. Glenn Elliott and Rev. Wilbur Nelson, pastor of Chapel Hill Baptist Church officiating. Burial was in White Rose Cemetery in Gibson, with Fields Funeral Home of Milan in charge. Mr. Estes died Thursday afternoon at the Jackson-Madison County Hospital. Born and reared in Gibson, the son of the late R. D. and Emma Love Estes, he was a member of the Gibson United Methodist Church, the Gibson County Court and the Lions Club.
Besides his wife, Mrs. Ellen Stinson Estes, he leaves a daughter, Mrs. C. N. Seitz of Fenton, Mich.; a brother, Same Estes of Panama City, Fla.; and a sister, Mrs. Scott Alexander of Bradford; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

RICHARD HICKS
Funeral services for Richard Hicks were held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Holmes funeral Home in Trenton with Dr. W. H. McFadden officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery.
Mr. Hicks died Sunday afternoon at the Veterans Hospital in Memphis where he had been a patient for six weeks.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, and was a lifelong Gibson Countian. He was a Veteran of World War II and a member of the VFW. Mr. Hicks was formerly employed with the Pet Milk Company of Trenton.
He was assistant cubmaster of the Trenton Boy Scouts.
Surviving are a daughter, Miss Rhonda Hicks of Trenton; a son, Richard B. Hicks of Trenton; a brother, Robert Hicks of Trenton; three sisters, Mrs. Paul Hughes and Mrs. Lynn Hughes, both of Milan, and Mrs. Carolyn Morgan of Trenton.

WYLIE DRUMMOND
Native Jacksonian Wylie H. Drummonds, Jr., an assistant vice president of American Airlines, was killed Saturday night in a traffic accident near Arlington, Tex.
His wife is in critical condition at Arlington's Memorial Hospital from injuries sustained in the accident. Another passenger in the Drummond car and two occupants of a truck involved in the collision were killed in the fiery crash.
Mr. Drummond, 58, was promoted in 1970 to assistant vice president for line flying and was responsible for American Airlines field flight units headed by area managers at New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and Dallas. He and his family moved to Grand Prairie, a Dallas suburb, after his election as an assistant vice president of the airline.
He is the brother of Mrs. Milton Young of 321 W. Forest [Jackson, TN], and Mrs. Wilson Haynes of Trenton.
Born in Jackson, Mr. Drummond attended Lambuth College and received his flight training in the Army Air Corps in 1939. During World War II he served as a Captain in the North Atlantic Airlift Mission.
In addition to his widow and three sisters [only 2 named], he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Siri Christmas, an employee of American Airlines at Los Angeles, and a son, Wylie Drummond III, a recent graduate of Claremont Men's College at Claremont, Calif.
Mrs. Drummond, the former Alice Ostmark of Beverly, Mass., was an American Airline stewardess before her marriage to Captain Drummond.

EMMA D. YATES
Funeral services for Mrs. Emma D. Yates, 83, were held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Hunt Funeral Home in Humboldt with the Rev. W. E. Small officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Yates died at her home in Humboldt Wednesday after suffering a heart attack. She was born and reared in Gibson County, daughter of the late Hugh Hartwell and Alice Clyde Arnold Love.
She was the widow of J. Foster Yates who died several years ago.
Mrs. Yates, a retired schoolteacher, had taught in Memphis for several years and in Humboldt for many years. She also made her home in Trenton for a number of years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Humboldt.
Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. P. D. Crim of Trenton and Mrs. Allan Moore of Humboldt, and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Harry Love of Humboldt; several nieces and nephews.

REUBEN H. MILLER
Reuben H. Miller, 60, retired carpenter, died Monday morning at Memphis Veterans Hospital.
Services were at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Holmes Funeral Home here with burial in Oakwood Cemetery.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Mildred Foster Miller; a son, James W. Miller of Trenton; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Lorraine McNabb of Pontiac, Mich.; two stepsons, M. C. Becton and Wallace Becton, both of Memphis, and a brother, Oscar Miller, and a sister, Miss Annette Miller, both of Madison, Wisc.

MRS. LEE BOND TAYLOR
Mrs. Lee Bond Taylor of Brownsville, Tennessee died at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Haywood County Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Brownsville Baptist Church.
A descendant of pioneer families prominent in the setting of Colonial Jamestown and Williamsburg and Nashville, Tennessee, Mrs. Taylor has been identified with historical, patriotic, cultural, civic and social affairs. Mrs. Taylor, nee Rose Eleanor Harwood, was the daughter of Judge Thomas Everett Harwood and Mrs. Melissa Jane ("Jennie") Hewett Harwood of Trenton, Tennessee.
She was graduated with honors from Agnes Scott College where she served as chairman when the first half million dollar endowment was raised and represented Agnes Scott on the national college board.
A member of the Brownsville Baptist Church, Mrs. Taylor taught Sunday School for several years and was Director of Music for 14 years.
Mrs. Taylor was a member of the State Officer's Club, Daughters of the American Revolution, a member of David Craig Chapter D.A.R., and served on several national committees National Society D.A.R. She compiled and published the first genealogical records of Tenn. members for the Tenn. Society D.A.R. which became a pattern for other states. Since 1930, she has continuously served as a state board member of the Tennessee Federation of Music Clubs. A Sketch of the First Fifty Years' History of Haywood County was written by Mrs. Taylor for a trades journal. This sketch is used in the Haywood County telephone directory. During the 1930's Mrs. Taylor was Democratic Committee Woman from Tennessee.
Mrs. Taylor was preceeded [sic] in death by her husband, Lee Bond Taylor, in 1965. Survivors include their daughter, Mrs. Melissa Taylor MacKenzie and granddaughter, Miss Donna MacKenzie of Brownsville.

SARAH LITTLE
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday for Mrs. Sarah Little, 78, former resident of Obion, Tennessee. Rev. Carlos Arnold officiated in the service at 2 o'clock at Hunt Funeral Home in Bradford. Burial was in Bruff Cemetery east of Bradford.
Mrs. Little died Monday night at Milan Hospital after a long illness.
Survivors include two sons, Horace Crocker of Trezevant and Frenze Crocker of Sharon; two sisters, Mrs. Gracie Dowland and Mrs. Alice Parker, both of Bradford; a brother, Ervin Arrington of Bradford and two grandchildren.

Miss Bledsoe died early Wednesday at Methodist Hospital in Memphis after a five-week illness.
She was the daughter of the late James Milton and Jenny Marshall Bledsoe, and was a retired schoolteacher. Miss Bledsoe, a lifelong Gibson Countian, had lived at Trenton for the past 25 years where she was a member of the First united Methodist Church.
Surviving are a brother, Irvin Bledsoe of Humboldt; two sisters, Mrs. W. H. Henley of Saucier, Miss., and Mrs. R. H. Koffman of Humboldt.

KATHERINE STEWART
Services for Mrs. Katherine Stewart, 45, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Martin Tabernacle CME Church at Trenton with the Rec. O. B. Booth officiating. Burial will be in Ward's Cemetery with Rawls and Baskerville Funeral Home of Humboldt in charge. Wake will be from 8 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
Mrs. Stewart died Friday at John Gaston Hospital in Memphis after a long illness.
She was born and reared in Trenton and was a lifelong member of the Martin Tabernacle CME Church.
Surviving are her mother, Mrs. Mamie Williams of South Bend, Ind.; four daughters, Linda Stewart, Mary Stewart, Marion Luten and Rosaline Luten, all of Trenton; four sons, Charlie Williams, Sylvester Williams and Harrison Williams, all of South Bend, Ind., and James Williams of Detroit; a sister, Miss Lois Williams of Trenton; two brothers, W. M. Williams of South Bend and Willie Lee Williams of Trenton; and 13 grandchildren.

He was a Baptist and was employed with the state highway department for many years. He also was employed with the Gibson County highway department for some seven years before his retirement. He had held farming interest in the county.
Surviving are a son, J. C. Alexander of Washington, D. C.; four daughters, Mrs. Mitchell Jones of Hickory Valley, Mrs. Andrew Milligan and Mrs. James Dinwiddie, both of Trenton, and Mrs. Gerald Stallings of Milan; 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

WILSIE DIXON
Mrs. Wilsie Dixon, 72, widow of Clarence Dixon, died Friday at Gibson General Hospital at Trenton. Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Homes Funeral Home at Trenton with burial in Oakland Cemetery at Trenton.
She leaves two sisters, Mrs. M. A. Wofford of Humboldt and Mrs. Irvin Hayes of Trenton, and a brother, Roy Louis of Lepanto, Ark.

Funeral services for Paul J. Moore, 66, were conducted at 2 o'clock Tuesday at Hunt Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Jones, pastor of the Gleason Methodist Church, Rev. Lawson Williamson, pastor of the First Baptist Church, and Rev. J. D. Mays officiating. Burial was in Bradford Cemetery.
Mr. Moore died Sunday night at his home south of Bradford after a long illness. He was a farmer.

Mr. Knox, a retired Bell Telephone employee, died about 2:00 o'clock Sunday morning at Gibson General Hospital in Trenton.

Mrs. Watt died Saturday afternoon at Gibson General Hospital after a long illness.
She was the widow of W. D. Watt, who died in 1930. She was a native of Gibson County, born in the Gibson Wells Community, and moving to Memphis to make her home in 1949. She returned to Trenton some 18 months ago.
She was a member of the Methodist Church.
Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Dimple Watt; two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Two children preceded her in death, Mrs. Louise Watt Ball and Joe Burton Watt.

WILMA GRIFFIN

Mrs. Griffin died Saturday at an Arlington, Va. Hospital.

Mr. Blasingame died Tuesday at Gibson General Hospital after a long illness.
He was born in Corinth, moving to Sharon as a young man. He moved to the Eaton Community some 50 years ago.
He was a Presbyterian.

ROY L. TURNER

Mr. Turner died Tuesday at Gibson General Hospital after a short illness.
He was first married to Miss Inez Murray who preceded him in death in 1965. He later married Miss Nina Taylor who survives.

He was born in Obion County and lived in Detroit until moving to Trenton in 1933. He was a retired farmer and landowner and a member of the Baptist Church.

He was a retired farmer and had worked for the Trenton Mill some 16 years before his retirement some 15 years ago. He was a member of the Grier's Chapel Methodist Church.

Funeral services for Homer Finis Rogers, 67, prominent Trenton resident, were at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Hunt Funeral Home chapel in Trenton with burial in Oakland Cemetery.
Mr. Rogers died early Monday at Medicenter in Jackson after a long illness.
He was a retired merchant, and for the past two years he was Park and Cemetery Supervisory for the city of Trenton.
He was a member of the Grier's Chapel Methodist Church
A lifelong Gibson Countian, he is survived by his widow, Mrs. Geraldine Boone Rogers; a son, Finis Hill Rogers; two sisters, Miss Imogene Rogers of Trenton and Mrs. J. C. Taylor of Memphis; a brother, Herschel Rogers of Jackson.

EBER FLATT
Services for Eber E. Flatt, 73, were at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Holmes Funeral Home chapel. A graveside service was at 3 p.m. at Meeks Grove Church.
Mr. Flatt died Sunday at Gibson General Hospital after a long illness.
He was born in McNairy County, moving to Trenton some 22 years ago. He was a retired farmer and a Brown Shoe Company employee.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Sarah Parrott Flatt; two daughters, Mrs. Hollis Moffitt of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Mrs. Flossie Mae Koehn of Trenton; a son, Ethyel Flatt of Trenton; two sisters, Mrs. Ella Rowden of Corinth and Mrs. Josie Reddell of Winasoga, Miss.; two brothers, Frank Flatt of Michie and Eldridge Flatt of Adamsville; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

JOE NEILSON
Services for Joe Neilson, 80, were at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Holmes Funeral Home chapel in Trenton with the Rev. D. F. Dickey officiating. Burial was in Follis Chapel Cemetery.
Mr. Neilson died Sunday at Gibson General Hospital after a short illness.
He was a lifelong resident of Gibson County, moving to Oak Ridge to make home some five years ago before returning to Gibson County.
He was a member of the Follis Chapel Methodist Church.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Maude Parr Neilson; nieces and nephews.

Mr. George, a painter and carpenter, died Monday night at the Gibson General Hospital.
He was born in Lake County and moved to Gibson County some 54 years ago.
Surviving are a son, Jerry George of Trenton; a step daughter, Miss Juanita Rose of Dyersburg; two sisters, Mrs. Joe Rains of Trenton and Mrs. Howard Hester of Rutherford; two grandsons; and two nieces.

CALLIE KATE BROOKS
Mrs. Callie Kate Brooks, 74, 1305 Plymouth Avenue [Goodlettsville], a private piano instructor for 52 years, died Monday night at Miller's Hospital in Goodlettsville after a long illness. Services were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Cole and Garrett Funeral Home in Goodlettsville. The Rev. Harold Coke, minister of Hillcrest United Methodist Church, and the Rev. Fred Blankenship, minister of Inglewood United Methodist Church, officiated. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery, Goodlettsville.
A native of Bradford, she was the former Miss Callie Kate Alexander, daughter of the late Joe and Pearlie Hedgecock Alexander. She graduated from Memphis Female Institute and later received a music degree from Bush Conservatory, Chicago, Ill.
After teaching piano in Bradford High School for several years, she married J. Wesley Brooks of Nashville. She moved there and began a career as a private piano teacher. Mr. Brooks died three months ago.
She was a member of Inglewood United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Norman Coke, West Point; and a sister, Mrs. Gerald Neville of Bradford.

Mr. Thomas Crafton died December 22 in Chicago, Ill. Services were held at the A. R. Leak Colonial Funeral Chapel with burial in Chicago.
He was born in Gibson County. He leaves one sister, Mrs. Emma Crafton Thomas of Champagne, Ill., a niece, Minnie Lee Williams of Humboldt, and a cousin, Flossie Grimes of Chicago.

Funeral services for Mrs. Della Pugh, 80, were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the United Pentecostal Church of Trenton with the Rev. Norman Welcher officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery in Trenton with Hunt Funeral Home in charge.
Mrs. Pugh died Friday morning at Gibson General Hospital after a short illness.
She was a lifelong resident of Gibson County, daughter of the late Frank and Lula Denning Tegethoff. She was the widow of A. G. Pugh.
Survivors are two sons, Roy Glenn Pugh of Trenton and Bytha Pugh of Saugus, Calif.; three daughters, Mrs. Lula Mae Delaney of McKenzie, Mrs. Virginia Black of Saulsbury, N.C., and Mrs. Willie Rogers of Trenton; one brother, David Tegethoff of Milan; one sister, Mrs. Lena Mae Williams of Humboldt; 21 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Tatem died Thursday at Riverside Hospital in Columbus.
He was born in Obion County, son of John J. and Tempe Lee Caldwell Tatem. He was a retired salesman for Clintonville Electric in Columbus. He was a member of the Mountview Baptist Church, Columbus and the Masonic Lodge of Trenton.

Mrs. Criswell, a retired employee of the Milan Arsenal, died Saturday morning at Ridgewood Retirement Inn after a long illness. The widow of John W. Criswell, she was a member of Doris Chapel Church of Christ.

Mrs. Halliburton died Friday at Jackson-Madison County Hospital after a long illness. She was a member of Nebo United Methodist Church. She taught school 36 years in Nebo and Yorkville.

Services for Douglas Harvell, 70, a retired laborer, were at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mt. Pilgrim CME Church with the Rev. Henry Welch officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with Rawls-Baskerville Funeral Home in charge.
Mr. Harvell died Friday night at Memorial Hospital after a long illness. He was born and reared in Baldwin, Miss., and moved to Trenton in 1925 when he joined Mt. Pilgrim CME Church.
He leaves a stepson, Frank Harvell of Trenton; five sisters, Mrs. Bertha Coleman, Mrs. Annie Crayton, Mrs. Gustavia Burnes, all of Trenton, Mrs. Margaret Cobb of Cincinnati, and Mrs. Beatrice Macline of Cleveland; a borther, Woodson Harvell of St. Louis; and six step-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Floy Fly Luckey, 86, were held Wednesday at Antioch Baptist Church at 2 p.m. with burial in Antioch Cemetery. The Rev. Frank Kemper and the Rev. Walter Lockhart officiated. Hunt Funeral Home of Humboldt was in charge.
Mrs. Luckey died Tuesday at Cedar Crest Hospital in Humboldt after a short illness. She was the widow of John Luther Luckey. She was born in Gibson County and lived there all of her life. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.
She leaves two daughters, Mrs. Willis Bennett of Trenton and Mrs. Sam Pearce of Shelbyville, Tenn., and one son, John Mack Luckey of Humboldt; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Pall bearers were nephews, Eugene Luckey, Joe Luckey, Jr., Brance Burt, Duana McGill, John Fly and Robert Fly.

RANDOLPH BRANSON
Funeral services for Mr. Randolph Branson, 90, were held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Shelton-Holmes Chapel with the Rev. Merle Thomas and Mr. Roy Williams officiating. Burial was in Yorkville Cemetery.
Mr. Branson died Dec. 26 at his home in Nebo.
Survivors include one son, Earl Branson of Dyer, and two grandchildren.

GRETA MAE MILLIGAN
Funeral services for Mrs. Greta Mae Milligan, 68, were held Saturday at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. David Logan officiating. Burial was in Follis Chapel Cemetery.
Mrs. Milligan, wife of O. B. Milligan, died Friday at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital of an apparent heart attack.
She was born in Hickman County and had lived in Gibson County since she was nine years old. She worked part-time at Harlan-Morris Home.
Mrs. Milligan was a member of Olive Branch Methodist Church for several years where she taught a Sunday School Class before moving her membership to Follis Chapel Methodist Church in 1972 where she also taught a Sunday School Class.
Besides her husband, she leaves four daughters, Shelley Baker and Gail Greene, both of Trenton, June Edwards of Alamo and Brenda Crain of Memphis; three sons, Jimmy Milligan, Gary Milligan and Sammy Milligan, all of Trenton; two sisters, Mrs. Willie M. Harrison of Chicago and Lillian Moore of Memphis; a brother, James Breece of Humboldt; 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

MARGARET LANCASTER HEATH
Funeral services for Margaret Virginia Morgan Lancaster Heath, 80, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. Trevis Otey, Jr. officiating. Burial was in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Mrs. Heath, widow of William P. Lancaster and J. H. Heath, died Sunday morning at the home of her daughter, Virginia Henry in Buffalo, New York, after a short illness.
She was born in Farmington, West Virginia, daughter of the late W. A. and Maggie Morgan, moved to Gibson County about 60 years ago and was a member of First Baptist Church.
Mrs. Heath was a 60-year member of Order of Eastern Star Chapter 361, a past OES matron and a charter member of the Upper West Tennessee Matrons and Patrons Club.
She was a past president of the state American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, serving as coordinator for the Girls State program, and a past president of the local Business and Professional Women's Club. She belonged to the Trenton Arts and Crafts Club and was a past president of the Cancer Unit.
Besides her daughter, she leaves two sons, Henry Allen Lancaster of Trenton and William Paschal Lancaster of Chesapeake, Virginia; two stepdaughters, Katherine Hastings of Jackson and Martha Knight of Crescent City, California; five sisters, Hazel Bennett and Laura Lee Bennett, both of Chesapeake, Juanita Moore of Norfolk, Virginia, Elizabeth Paul of Syn, North Carolina and Lula Green [print smeared & hard to read] of Lake Charles, Louisiana; a brother, Norville Morgan of Rogersville, Pennsylvania; 12 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Winford A. Cash, 66, were held Wednesday at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronald Allen and Dr. Robert Brown officiating. Burial was in Salem Cemetery near Trenton.
Mr. Cash, a retired insurance salesman, died Saturday night at Gibson General Hospital after an 11-week illness.
He was a lifelong resident of Gibson County, served in the Navy during World War II and worked for Home Beneficial Insurance Co. 25 years before retiring.
Mr. Cash was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where he served on the Administrative Board and as Sunday school secretary.
Surviving are his wife, Frances Baird Cash; a daughter, Myra Cash Kalahar of Brandon, Mississippi; a son, Reb. Phil B. Cash of Columbus, Georgia; three sisters, Mrs. Paris Norman of Rutherford, Mrs. Rosco Potenza of Trenton and Mrs. H. L. LEON 'SONNY' BUCHANAN

Mr. Buchanan, a disabled Army veteran, died Monday night at Gibson General Hospital after an illness.
He was a Trenton native and a member of American Legion Post 200, the W.J.O. Lee Elks Lodge and First Baptist Church.

Mr. Browning, a retired agriculture pilot and carpenter, died Tuesday in Union City. He was a member of Rutherford Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he was an elder and a World War II Army veteran.

Mrs. Wright, a retired teacher, was a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church and Daughters of the American Revolution. She was preceded in death by her husband, E. M. Wright.
Survivors include a son, Mack Wright of Longwood, Florida; three sisters, Nona Appleton of Newport, Arkansas, Marji Lumpkin of Camden, and Sue Grouse of Perry, Florida; four brothers, Grover C. Jewell of Milan, Waymon Jewell and Buddy Jewell, both of Rutherford, and James Jewell of Chicago, and five grandchildren.

HARRY EDWARD ABERNATHY
Harry Edward Abernathy, 62, a resident of Cimarron, New Mexico, formerly of Trenton, died at his home November 24 following a short illness. His ashes will be returned to Trenton for burial at a later date.
Mr. Abernathy was a retired school teacher, artist and pilot. An active community leader, he served on the school board, housing authority, and other governmental agencies in Cimarron.
He was a Mason serving as Senior Grand Deacon of Free and Accepted Masons of the state of New Mexico. He was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church in Cimarron.
He is survived by his wife, Lou; three sons, Norman Clay Abernathy of Clovis, New Mexico, Paul Abernathy of Springer, New Mexico, and Mark Abernathy of Italy; a daughter, Diana Cox of Phoenix, Arizona; his mother, Mrs. Bessie Abernathy of Trenton; a sister, Mrs. Betty Arnold of Trenton, and five grandchildren. A brother, Russell Abernathy, preceded him in death in June of this year.

Mrs. Gentry, who worked for many years in restaurants, died Thursday, December 5. She was a member of First Baptist Church.

Funeral services for Ruby Baugus Poteet, 87, were held Saturday at Doris Chapel Church of Christ. Burial was in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Mrs. Poteet, a retired school teacher died Friday at Gibson General Hospital. She was a member of Doris Chapel Church of Christ.
She was preceeded [sic] in death by her husband, Willie Herbert Poteet.
She is survived by a son, Lanny Poteet and three grandchildren, Lanny Poteet, Jr., Michael Poteet, and Susan Poteet.

ERNESTINE HURT
Graveside services were held Monday at Oakland Cemetery for Mary Ernestine Hurt.
Mrs. Hurt, 85, a retired production worker for Trenton Mills, died Sunday at Oak Hill Germantown Nursing Home in Memphis. She lived in Memphis but was formerly of Trenton and was a member of First Baptist Church.
She was preceeded [sic] in death by her husband Edwin Hurt in 1978.
She is survived by a sister, Margaret Van Horn of Vardaman, MS.

EMILY WILLIAMS
Funeral services for Emily Tyree Williams were held Wednesday at Shelton Funeral Home. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery.
Mrs. Williams, 73, died Sunday at Trenton Health Care Center.
She was a member of Doris Chapel Church of Christ.
She was preceeded [sic] in death by her husband Everand Williams in 1985.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at Shelton Funeral Home for Mary Evelyn Harper. Burial was in Antioch Cemetery.
Mrs. Harper, 60, died Sunday at Humboldt Nursing Home.
She was a member of Westside Baptist Church.
She was preceeded [sic] in death by her husband Ernest Harper, Sr. in 1992.

ANGELA LITTLETON
Funeral services for Angela Gaye Littleton, 22, were held Tuesday at Karnes & Son Funeral Home in Dyer. Burial was in Bethpage Cemetery in Kenton.
Mrs. Littleton, an employee of Trenton Animal Clinic and former employee of the Bank of Commerce, died from injuries in an early Saturday morning automobile accident.
She was a member of Bethpage Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Steven K. Littleton and a son, Andrew Steven Littleton, both of Dyer; her parents, Jerry and Nancy Neisler of Trenton; and a brother, Jeff Neisler of Trenton.

JEREMY MORAN
Funeral services were held Tuesday at White Ranson Funeral Home in Union City for Jeremy Lee Moran, 18 of Dyer. Burial was in Obion County Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Moran, an 11th grade student at Gibson County High, died at Gibson General Hospital Saturday following an early morning automobile accident. He was an employee of Subway in Trenton.

Mr. Tomlin, 46, owner of Ray's BP convenience stores, died Monday at Methodist Volunteer General Hospital in Martin of injuries from a gunshot wound.

WILLARD TAYLOR
Graveside services for Willard Taylor were held Thursday at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery in Philadelphis, MS, Ripley Funeral Home in charge.
Mr. Taylor, 53, Human Resource Manager at Benchcraft, died Tuesday at his home.
He was a member of Ripley First United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of the University of Mississippi and was a former band director for Neshoba Central and Ripley School 
Systems for 18 years. 
He was former president of MS Bandmasters Association and a member of Northeast MS Band Directors Association and served as a judge at many band clinics. 
He was former choir director at Ripley First United Methodist Church where he served on various committees.
He was preceded in death by his father, Hoyt Taylor.
Surviving are his wife, Carol Taylor of Ripley; a daughter, Melanie T. Stallings of Oxford; a son, Alan Taylor of Ripley; his mother, Nell Taylor of Trenton; a sister, Brenda Walker of Trenton.

Mrs. Coble died late Friday afternoon at the Gibson General Hospital.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church.

ELDERLY COUNTIAN DIES NEAR KENTON
Mrs. Sally Tilghman, about 95, one of Gibson County's oldest residents, died early Tuesday morning at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Red Watson. She is survived also by another daughter, Mrs. J. W. Newmon of Kenton and a sister, Mrs. Abbie Sims, near Rutherford.

Mr. Caton died April 17 at Gibson General Hospital after a length illness. He was a lifelong resident of Gibson County and a member of the Assembly of God Church in Dyer. The retired Dyer Fruit Box Company employee was a Mason for 42 years.

Mrs. Fullington, wife of Thomas C. Fullington, Sr., died Tuesday afternoon at Cedar Crest Hospital after a long illness.
A Trenton native, she lived in Kentucky before moving to Humboldt 14 years ago. She and he husband owned and operated a department store in Paris, Kentucky for more than 30 years. She was a member of Humboldt's First United Methodist Church.
Besides her husband, she leaves a daughter, Dorothy Ann Wolford of Evansville, Indiana; a son, Thomas C. Fullington, Jr. of Georgetown, Kentucky; two sisters, Louise Thorne and Grace George, both of Trenton; a brother, Raymond Batchelor of Trenton; and three grandchildren.
Hunt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

MRS. LIZZIE PENN

Mrs. Penn, widow of Bernie [should be Vernie] Penn, died Wednesday morning at Forum Convalescent Home after a short illness.
A lifelong Gibson County resident, she was a member of Salem Church.

Mrs. Williams, 32, died suddenly Monday afternoon at her home on Broadfield Manor in Trenton.
Mrs. Williams was the wife of Jimmy Williams, and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Taylor of Trenton.

DR. MINYARD DEE INGRAM
Funeral services for Dr. Minyard Dee Ingram, Jr., 61, of Franklin, assistant professor of radiology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, were held at Franklin Memorial Chapel.
Burial was in Williamson Memorial Gardens.
Ingram, formerly of Nashville, was dead on arrival at Cumberland Medical Center in Crossville Hospital Sunday after a heart attack.
A graduate of Battle Ground Academy in 1937, he received his bachelors' degree from Vanderbilt University in 1941 and his medical degree from the School of Medicine there in 1943. He interned in pediatrics at Vanderbilt Hospital and did his residency in surgery at Scott-White Clinic in Temple, Texas.
Ingram practiced general medicine in Woodbury, Tenn., before returning to Vanderbilt in 1948 for a residency in radiology. He was in private practice as radiologist here from 1951 to 1975, when he became director of the Breast Cancer Detection Center, sponsored jointly by the American Cancer Society and the National Institutes of Health.
During the ensuing six years, he gained national and international recognition for his administration of the center, and was known as an expert in the field of mammography.
Early this year, he became executive director of medical imaging in the department of radiology at Vanderbilt Hospital, and was also director of outpatient radiology at the hospital.
He was a member of Judson Memorial Church.
He was a member of the Vanderbilt Medical Center Development Council and Vanderbilt University's national committee on wills and trusts, and a lifetime member of the university Chancellor's Council and the Canby Robinson Society of the Medical Center. He was a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity and the Phi Chi medical fraternity.
He also was a member of many medical and scientific societies, including the American Medical Association, the American College of Radiology, the Tennessee Radiological Society, the Southern Medical Association and the Nashville Academy of Medicine.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Kathryne Bransford Ingram of Franklin; a son, Minyard Dee Ingram III of Franklin; a brother, Joe W. Ingram of Arlington, Va., and two sisters, Mrs. John deLoach [sic] of Jackson and Mrs. Roger Hammer of Westfield, N.Y.
The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Vanderbilt department of radiology.

Mr. Graves died at Gibson General Hospital Wednesday night.
He was an automobile and real estate dealer.
He taught a Sunday School class at Oak Grove Baptist Church.

He was an Air Force veteran.

Mrs. Palmer was a member of Union Methodist Church. She was born in Perry County at Linden. She lived in Laneview for 50 years.
She leaves behind her husband, Ray [should be Roy] Palmer; three daughters, Miss Alma Palmer , Trenton, Mrs. Sharpe Hendrix, Memphis, Mrs. Wallace Burns, Humboldt; two brothers, William Carroll Smith, Milan, John Smith, Linden; two grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Mr. Palmer died Wednesday evening at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital after a long illness.
He was a Crockett County native, but had lived in the Laneview community in Gibson County for 54 years. He was the oldest member of Union Methodist Church.
Surviving are three daughters, Miss Alma Palmer of Trenton, Mrs. Wilma Hendrix of Memphis and Mrs. Lila Burns of Humboldt; two grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held last week at the Salem Baptist Church for Frederick Guy Harrison, 76, who died Wednesday.

Mr. Harrison had been a lifelong resident of Gibson County. He was a retired farmer.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Bobbie Jean Parnell of Trenton and Mrs. Patsy Ann Gray of Lebanon; one son, Billy Guy Harrison of Trenton; two sisters, Mrs. Josie O'Kain of Joliet, Ill. and Mrs. Elizabeth Hall of Trenton; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Norma Dean Cole of Trenton; a daughter, Mrs. Nancy Ann Pollard of Trenton; a son, Samuel Eugene Cole of Trenton; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Cole of Trenton; three sisters, Mrs. Helen Alexander of Trenton, Mrs. Betty Poteet of Trenton and Mrs. Linda Edwards of Trenton; two brothers, Carl Cole of Trenton and Jackie Cole of Trenton; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services for Jerry Michael Garner, 24, were held at 2 p.m. Friday at Shelton Funeral Home with Clyde Yarbro officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Garner died Wednesday afternoon at LeBonheur Children's Medical Center after a long illness.
He was a Trenton native and a member of Pleasant Hill Church of Christ.
Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Garner of Trenton; a sister, Miss Laura Jane Garner of Trenton; a brother, James Mark Garner of Trenton, and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Barber of Humboldt and Mrs. Leona Garner of Bradford.

J. W. PIPKIN……d. 11 July 1983 according to his tombstone
Funeral services for J. W. Pipkin, 57, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Shelton Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Garland officiating. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery in Dyer.
Mr. Pipkin, a retired employee of Dyer Box Factory, died at Veterans Hospital in Memphis on July 11. He was born and reared in Perry County, moving to Gibson County in 1943. He served some three years in the U.S. Army and made his home in Michigan prior to returning to Gibson County in 1957.
He is survived by a son, James Pipkin of Trenton; four sisters, Mrs. Ruby Choate and Mrs. Delphia Williams, both of Trenton, Mrs. Brownie McGee of Dyer, and Mrs. Dean Lomax of Linden; three brothers, Ruford Pipkin, Floyd Pipkin, and Bill Pipkin, all of Trenton.

Funeral services for Mrs. Bessie Lawler Freeman, 92, were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 13, at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bob Tipton officiating. Burial was in Oakhaven Memory Garden.
Mrs. Freeman died February 11 at Gibson General Hospital after a short illness.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Calla Parteous of Gainsville, Fla., Mrs. Delia Stephens of Tampa, Fla., Mrs. Wilma Powell of Trenton, and Mrs. Ruth Laster; two sons, Eugene Freeman of Trenton and Jack Freeman of Jamestown, N.D.; a sister, Mrs. Annie Walker of Dyersburg; 19 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; and a great-great grandson.
