This is just a shot in the dark... but if you found documentation that says
"minister of the gospel" and if the term "Rev." is your own, you might want
to look at early Churches of Christ. I don't even know if the name of the
church was widely known that early, but most denominations refer to their
spiritual leaders as Reverend or Pastor... churches of Christ do not, preferring
the titles "minister" or "preacher". My Grandmother worshipped at a small
Church of Christ in Grant (whose building still stands, although it looks
to be used for another purpose now).

Yes, as near as I have been able to verify my O.
Gregory was born between 1791 and 1799 in VA.
I found him in the 1860 Muhlenberg Co. KY census as being married to Lucretia
________ b. 1805 VA.
The children living with him were listed as
Marcus b. 1843 TN,
Sarah J. b. 1846 TN, and
Elizasbeth b. 1849 KY.
Family history and Marcus's son Benjamin's marriage record lists Marcus Gregory
and Lucinda Morris as parents. I have been able to match that with family
oral history. Also, our oral history identifies Obediah (Obadiah?) Gregory
as the first Gregory in our line in Muhlenberg Co. KY.
If I can verify it I can connect them with another data base I recently found that runs the line back to the 1500's in Eng. They are willing to share their info with me. The problem is that it only lists children of Obadiah Gregory that would have been older than Marcus, Sarah J., and Elizabeth... very possible if you look at the dates.
It would help if someone has access to the early Sumner Co. marriage records and can look up Obediah Gregory and Lucretia Spain and see who the parents are listed. Also, It would help if birth records for Marcus, Sarah J., or Elizabeth could be found that list the parent's names. I think Marcus and Sarah J. were probably born in Sumner Co.
I would be happy to share any info I have or will have including pictures of a house Obediah Gregory built in Muhlenberg Co. KY. In the mean time I am going to verify records from Muhlenberg Co. if possible.

Dear Carmelita,
In November I was fortunate enough to visit Smith Co. with my father and
83 year old Aunt. We visited the only family gravesite we could locate in
one afternoon with their fuzzy memories. Their grandfather, my greatgrandfather
was a Confederate Captian and was buried on a hillside in a large plot which
included his wife and sisters with their husbands and kin. My GGrandfather,
George Moore had a sister Sarah who married a Tuggle. She, and her husband
and many other Tuggles are buried there. I don't have the records in front
of me, but there were also some Gill's buried there and I recall my aunts
and uncles often referring to cousin ____ Gill, so I know there is a connection.
George Moore's grandparents were married in Granville Co. NC in 1800, so
that might fit in with your NC to TN migration. I will check the notes I
made that afternoon at the gravesite and get back with you. We took pictures
of the gravesite.
I may (it will take time to sort it out) also have some turn of the century
photos of some of these Tuggles. I have a lot of old pictures (many identified,
many not) from Smith and Wilson County circa 1890-1915 which I offered to
share with the Mt. Juliet Historical Society in exchange for some research
which I am unable to do from Florida. They were not interested, and I was
amused. Let me do some searching.
