Hello,
Just discovered that Smith County had finally logged on to RootsWeb. Re: Isaac Lynch m. Millie..had issue Susan and Iron. Susan married Harrison Lee Douglas first. He went on to marry two more times. His last marriage was to Susan Evelyn Fisher Clark, who was my grandmother. I believe Susan Lynch Douglas is buried with Harrison Lee Douglas near Popes Hill, Smith Co., TN.

There is another family of Lynches that migrated to Crittenden Co., KY along with many other families, Clarks, Paris's, Hunts, Congers, to name just a few. I have some iinformation on these families. Let me know what you need.

Jacob John GENTNER, b 25 Jul 1821, emigrated from Wuerttemberg, Germany with his widowed mother Christiane GRONER, b 2 Mar 1791, daughter of Daniel, and his sister Christiane, b 16 Aug 1824.

Jacob John married Christin a GRUNER when he was 43. They had 6 sons and 5 daughters, one of whom was Louis J. GENTNER, my grandfather, born 31 Aug 1866, Nashville, TN. Louis was third from the bottom. Siblings were: James Otto, 14 Dec 1859; Christina, 11 Aug 1861; Johann Friedrich (probably John or Fred), 29 May 1862; Julia Johanne, 24 Sep 1864; Karl Julius 26 Jul 1868; all born in Nashville, TN.

The 1870 Census finds the father, Jacob 49, Mother Cristina 35, Louis 4, and Charl 2, in Galveston, TX. Jacob was a soap manufacturer.
A recent check of CD phone disks, found no GENTNERs in TN, but a number in KY, concentration of majority being in Louisville. A phone call to one, appeared to make a link, but further checking proved to be a false lead.

It appears that some of the older brothers remained in TN when the family moved to TX. I would like very much to get in touch with my grandfather's siblings descendants!!!

Hi There,
I am in the sincerest of hopes that you can help me. I have tried to do a family tree yet I cannot find any info on The McCullough Family. The 2 Sisters Alma Lee and Emma lived in and around Murfreesboro. The Brother, Roy, My dad, moved to New Jersey and married Jacqueline Eckenrode.

I could not ever get any info from Dad or his sisters. They are all deceased now so , there is no one to get info from! After Dad died it was as though we were cut off. As though we all died! Grandad was John V. McCullough Granny was Amelia Roy. dates unknown. The only thing I can remember dad saying was that he was born in Franklin? Tennessee. If you can help me build from this PLEASE, e-mail me . Sincerest thanks!

I am looking for Jacksons or families related to Jacksons who can trace their ancestry back to Henry Jackson who arrived in America aboard the Elizabeth & Ann in 1635. He originally landed in Watertown Mass. but went to Fairfield Ct. in 1648 or 1649. He had sons, John, Samuel, Moses, and Joseph. Also a daughter Hannah who married Philip Galpin and Stephen Sherwood. Some descendents moved south to Virginia and Tennessee. Any help would be appreciated. I have lots of information on descendents who moved north and even into Canada.

I am searching for the grave of my great grandmother, Mary Ann Massey (Evans) Grammer, b. ca. 1833 in Tennessee. She was the daughter of Margaret Douthit and Lewis E. Massey. Margaret is buried in the Mulberry Cemetery in either Moore or Lincoln County, TN. Mary Ann married first, Eli Evans, 1/22/1851 in Lincoln County, Tennessee. After two children, Stacy Evans and Stephen Evans and the death of Eli, she married Peterson Henderson Grammer 3/21/1858 in Lincoln County, Tennessee. Mary Ann and Peterson had six children and she died ca. 1873 after the birth of the sixth child and is buried somewhere in the area of the above counties.
Peterson Henderson Grammer, my great grandfather, married Spicy Ann Cobble 4/26/1874 and they migrated to Cherokee County, Texas. If anyone has information on the grave of my great grandmother, Mary Ann, I would be extremely grateful if you would share this info with me. Sincerely,

Hi Nancy,

It has been awhile, and thanks for your message! Well, I have moved to GA (just outside of Macon) since I last spoke to you. It's a big switch from southern CA, as I'm sure you can imagine! My husband was about to be laid off his job at Northrop Aircraft and the company I worked for folded, so we decided it was time to move. My husband got another job with the aerospace industry in GA, so here we are! We've been here 6 months and are still going through culture shock. I have to admit that I'm still homesick! Thank goodness for email, it makes it so much easier to stay in touch.

Thanks for keeping my Goodman queries alive! I still have not found out what happened to those folks. Family members say that they remained in the Maury Co., TN area, so I guess I'll just have to break down and go through the census page by page since they sure aren't in the index there. I would love to find descendants of those Goodmans, as then I would have all 3 of the Jernigan children in my great-great grandfather's family traced...

Nancy,
I check out David's pages frequently, but can't keep up. He apparently has wads more time than I do to "work" the site. If my ISP ever keeps its word & supports my site's FrontPage interactive functions, I guess I'm going to have to find the time as well. He knows enough about my lines to drop me an EMail if he sees something close. He also sends lots of other people's queries my way!

My latest research foray to Orlando was fruitful, with several intriguing Goodman / Thorp connections in Hanover Co., VA 1739-1763., and Gwatkin / Thorp connections in Bedford Co., VA. I may be hot on the track of Epharilla Thorp's parentage! I decided to focus on this family for a time, to see if it may lead me back to Ansel & John's parentage, as well. It paid off in spades! There were also Goodman / Callaway and Gwatkin / Callaway connections about the same time. I am now thinking that Ansel and John Goodman of Bedford Co. may have had many family connections to several of the famous Boonesborough pioneers!! I need to put it all together & dig into some of my older notes on the same families, though.

I also got copies of the Bedford Co. Revolutionary soldiers from "Our Kin", and will begin the process of matching these names to the Boonesborough settlers list, and to the list of Saltmakers captured with Boone at Blue Licks. I will send a link to the final list when I get that done.
Later,
Ron

John Jr. married Francis Ann Mullinax of York Dist. SC. I have not found a final disposition of John Jr. or Francis. Their 1st child was George Ross Mullins, my 2G Grandfather. He and son Sanford went to Texas about 1875, then to Pontotoc Co. OK about 1887. Mike Taylor 2b. John Mullins son of Thomas Mullins was born in Of Granville, North Carolina about 1742. Nancy,
My Greenberry Mullin died between Jan and Mar 1838 in Haywood County TN. His parents were Thomas Mullin and Elizabeth Sutton Mullin. Thomas and Elizabeth(I believe were born in Bertie County/Perquimans County NC) they left Haywood County Tn abt 1844 for Washington County AR and stayed until their death.

Thomas Mullin had a brother in Bertie County NC named Greenberry Mullin m to Harriet Watston...this Greenberry died 1811 in Bertie County NC...children if any are unknown to me. Just a thought....your Green could have come from this line.
There was also a Green Sutton in Perquimans County prior to 1800, don't recall the date.....
Let me know if you need any futher information from me.
Take care and good hunting.

The other "serious" Ozment researchers (my branch) I mentioned are John Allan Ozment (CA),David Carlos Smith (NC), and Evelyn J. Thoes (TX) . I have already corresponded with them about you and your lineage, so maybe something will develop.
Suggest you subscribe to the OSMENT,OZMENT RESEARCH GROUP web page if you have not already done so. Contact Nancy Goodman, webmaster, >[email protected]< and I'm sure she will advise what info you need to submit to subscribe.

Hi Nancy, I received your name in referral from Dwight Ozment. He suggested I contact you to subscribe to the Ozment list/web page of which you are webmaster. By way of introduction, I am a direct Ozment/Ozmon descendant from Talbot Co., Md. and have a line, perhaps related, maybe not, to Dwight's. We certainly have much in common, in any event. I would be glad to share, participate, etc. as I am deeply interested in this family line and its branches.
Please let me know what I need to do to subscribe. Thanks, Frank (maternal names, Sturgis, Cooper, Ozment, Fisher, Catrup)

GENE'S ANALYSIS
The John was married in 1803, probably born in 1777 in NC based on other records. Genny1's Isaac was born in 1807 in NC Your Isaac had the first dau in 1861 so was probably born in late 1830 to early 1840.
My question is "where did the info on your Isaac come from?, ie , census, a query or other. Thanks, GENE

I am searching for Thomas SIMMONS and his wife Mary Ann WALKER.
They appear in the 1820 Census of Wayne County Tennessee. They have seven children. Three we know of are:
Peter Simmons,
Wiley Simmons, and
Lewis Simmons.
They were born in North Carolina in the 1800's in or around Bertie County. The children came to Tennessee while still young.
We do not know where Thomas SIMMONS is before 1820 as he does not appear in any Census of Tennessee or North Carolina in the counties listed. They may be in surrounding counties.
Thomas SIMMONS was born about 1765 in Bertie County North Carolina. Was married there and moved to Tennessee. The children grew up in Tennessee and married in Wayne county.
Peter SIMMONS married a Cynthia HARVEY.
Cynthia's Father was Thomas G. HARVEY from Georgia.
Lewis SIMMONS and Wiley SIMMONS married sisters Sarah Ann ERVING and Mary Ann ERVING.
Their parents were Hezekiah ERVING and Polly SIMMONS. They were born in North Carolina also. They came to Wayne county Tennessee where they were married about 1825 to 1831.
In 1832 Wiley and Lewis SIMMONS moved to Cape Giradeau Missouri.
Thomas stayed in Wayne County Tennessee untill about 1843, when Peter and Thomas moved to Johnson County Illinois.
Wiley and Peter Simmons moved to Johnson County Illinois in 1836.
Any help would be appreciated.

I just found your website when I was researching Richard halliburton (1900- 1939).
I know that Richard's uncle Earl Halliburton married a Taber and thus it came down toward my family. I went to the library and couldn't understand the lines described in the geneology book of the Halliburtons.
Can you help?
Can you trace from Earl halliburton and his Taber wife down to my grandmother Vida Taber (her brother is Wallace Taber, I do know that- I think there was a Jack Taber too)
Thanks!

Nancy,
Just happened to stumble upon your website, and was surprised to find a lineage of my family. My grandfather was Baxter Colgate (whom I had heard people refer to as Jerry Baxter Colgate). My father was Blant Colgate, 1st son of Baxter and Lola Davis. I know nothing of my father''s history, and I will have to spiral through your website to trace this thing. My grandparents divorced when my father was young, and Baxter died in the 40's I think. My father had little contact with him. My grandmother died in the late 80's. She was born in the around 1897 and was in her nineties. Your records say that Baxter was born in 1904, which would have made her a bit older than my grandfather. My dad was born in 1921, which would have made Baxter only 17 when he was born. (?) My father died unexpectedly in 1986 of a heart attack. He was 64. My dad was born in Nashville, but at some point they moved to Louisville, Kentucky. I was raised in Dallas, Texas and I did not have a lot of contact with the extended family.
If you have any other leads or information, I would love to know.
Thanks, Jeanne Colgate Terrell

I am researching my Sadler and Haas family lineages in Wilson Co until 1849 and then from 1850 on in Dekalb county. Morris line originated in Cannon, moved to Dekalb in abt 1900 and to Warren county in 1946.

Primary names are Thomas M (son of William W. Saddler and ?) and Elizabeth Ann Haas Sadler (daughter of Henry and Sarah Sneed Haas of Wilson county), Lafayette (aka, Fate, son of Thomas) and Martha Williams Sadler (daughter of Sebastian and Paralee Pistole Williams of Dekalb county), John Molloy and Mary Brashers Morris (John was son of Garlan Morris), Dan Sadler Sr and Myrtle Morris Sadler (daughter of John and Mary, Rellie (son of Fate) and Mary Bunch Kimbrough Sadler (daughter of Ernest and Sarah Bunch Kimbrough of Giles and later Wilson county TN). Rellie and Mary live in Mt Juliet TN on old Hickory Lake until their deaths in 1972 and 1986 respectively.

I would love to hear from anyone with knowledge of any of these lines. I have over 1400 people in my FTM file from Wilson and Dekalb couties alone with these surnames.

Thanks and good hunting!

Hi Genny,
Yes I sent the Shannon and Lain name to the list. I don't know if any other of my Lains (Lanes) moved elsewhere. I don't think that Julia Lain's parents moved with her. I think William Lain stayed in Lebanon with another daughter. I did find where he lived in Missouri at the beginning of war and must have stayed there about ten years before moving back. It was Quincy, MO which was strange since I live in Quincy, IL. I have not had time to check it all out but it looks like that is where my g-grandmother Julia was born. We have all had her birth in TN. We can sidetrack over to Quincy on one of our trips to TX. I hope to get started back on family searching as soon as I get my parents back down to TX. They have been here since Christmas with mother in hospital two different times for a total of 3 weeks so I have not even begin doing any family work except reading e-mail. When I get some things figured out I will let you know what is new.

Til later, Joyce
