Nancy,

Thanks! I will mail your copy in the morning. Others went out this afternoon. Hope you like it.

Thanks also for all of your postings for me and making me a website! I will be sending more cemetery records later tonight or tomorrow. Going to the State Library here tomorrow to work on the CRUDUP-TEMPLE connection. Distant cousins believe that our TEMPLE descent is from HENRY TEMPLE, JR., and his wife, SARAH ROBERTSON, daughter of JOHN and AMY ROBERTSON of Wake Co., NC.

HENRY and SARAH TEMPLE did have a daughter, REBECCA, who would be the right age to have married JOHN CRUDUP, and become the mother of the four CRUDUP children in Wilson County:
(1) ROBERT CRUDUP,
(2) ELISHA BATTLE CRUDUP,
(3) BENNETT CRUDUP, and
(4) JOHN CRUDUP.

The last named was the JOHN CRUDUP who was JP for so long and lived in the MT. Juliet TN area. He married MARY ELIZABETH GRAVES, and had several children.

ELISHA BATTLE CRUDUP married LOUISA JANE ALFORD, one of the daughters of WILEY ALFORD and SOPHIA VALENTINE DRAKE (another was my gt-gt-grand- mother, SOPHIA VALENTINE ALFORD, who married SHADRACK JARMAN, as her first husband). They were divorced because of ELISHA's cruel treatment. She then married BENJAMIN B.B. WALKER.
ELISHA and LOUISA were said to have had children, but I have failed to find a record of their names. TX cousins have a list, but no source for it. I found ELISHA in MS in the 1860 census living with a DUNCAN SHAW and his wife, CAROLINE.

ROBERT CRUDUP married
(1) MARY GUILL, daughter of JOSIAH GUILL and MARGARET HUGHES;
(2) CAROLINE STEELE HARKREADER, widow of JOHN HARKREADER; and
(3) ALMEDIA BARRON.
The first two marriages occurred in Wilson Co. and the third in TX. He moved from Wilson Co  TN to Perry Co. where he was State Representative, then on to Dyer Co, and finally to TX, where he died as a member of the TX State Legislature.

BENNETT CRUDUP died young.

REBECCA TEMPLE CRUDUP is said to have married as her second husband, a MR. MARTIN and died in Bedford Co, leaving at least one son, QUINCY MARTIN.

I have found no marriage record for this marriage or son.

I am forwarding this to Greg for posting on the Wilson County page.

Bob
