Sherri's chart for the Coggin Research Team should look something like this:

John Reavis Coggin b. abt 1920 m. Martha Bayly abt 1942 in TN (prob in Giles or Marshall Co.) > William Reavis Coggin b. abt 1944 m. Christine Edwards abt 1966 (Christine was runner up in Miss Tennessee in 1965) They divorced. >
Sherri Coggin b. abt 1966 m. Johnson abt 1989.

Sherri if you have any changes to this chart for the Coggin Research Team, please advise Nancy Goodman at e-mail, genny1, without delay.

I am very interested in the book you are talking about can you tell me how to get a copy? My Coggin line came from Isham Coggin who had four sons and several daughters in North Carolina all the sons died in the civil war on the confederate side if this is the same line, I will be happy to share my info.

Good Evening,
My name is Jesse Floyd and I hope you can help me. Recently, I received a copy of my great grandmother's (Martha Coggin(s) Floyd) death certificate. She was born in 1848 and died in Webster County Mississippi in 1913. It lists her father as Burrell Coggin. According to the 1880 Clay County, Mississippi Census, William and Martha Floyd had four children Sara, William, John, and Eliza. I believe that they were married in the early 1870s. I also believe that they had at least one other child, a son name Ed. My father never mentioned having any aunts from this family only uncles. The 1880 Census record also states that Martha's father was born in North Carolina and her mother was born in Georgia. I found a Burrell Coggin that married Sarah McDowell in 1842 in Pike County Georgia.
The 1850 Mississippi Census Index lists a Burrel Coggins in Carroll County. I haven't been able to look at the actual census record to see if Martha was listed.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Cordially,
Jesse

Jesse, I think you are on the threshold of some wonderful discoveries about your Coggin ancestors. The lineage of your ancestors is, I belive:
John Coggin (Cogan, frm Bristol, Eng) >
John Jr. (Isle of Wight Co.,VA) >
Robert ( Isle of Wight ) >
Robert Jr.(Isle of Wight ) >
James ( Franklin Co., NC ) John ( Franklin Co., NC ) >
Burrell ( Franklin Co., NC ) >
Burrell ( Morgan & Pike Cos., GA) .

My research on this part of the Clan ends with Burrell (identified as Morgan & Pike Cos ) born abt 1824 in Pike Co., GA.

The info on John Coggin came from Edna Harget ([email protected]) and appears to be a page xeroxed from a County Historical Pub., probably Morgan or Pike Co.

Jesse, Burrell born abt 1824 HAD two brothers, Jeremiah b. abt 1822 and Eli D. F. b. abt 1826 and three sisters, Mary b. abt 1828, Prudence b. abt 1830 and Jane b. abt 1832.

Hope this helps. Let me know . Have much more on the Coggin Family.

Roy

Yes, but several people have asked about this Bible and when they hear the price, that's the end of it. It is higher than our usual prices due to the amount we had to pay for it. The price is $110.00 postage paid.

Sincerely,
Eric at Ford & Nagle

Hi Nancy,

I was introduced to your web page by Jerry O. Williams (nephew of Roy Coggin) who I met on the Net and has sent me TONs of valuable Coggin info.
My mother's maiden name was Coggin. Her parents were Clarence Green Coggin (from TN, 1890-1974) and Bessie Eugene Kanipe (1885-1988 - 103 years!), Clarence's parents were Hiram Washington Coggin (1857 - 1929) and Mary Anna Hobbs (1862-1950), Hiram's parents were Elias Green Coggin (1823-1897) and Eliza T. Kersey (1830-1917), Elias' parents were Joshua Green Coggin (1798-1874) and Winnie Ann Lawhon (1801-1872, I've also seen her name spelled Lawhorn) and from there we get back into the various Roberts & Johns Coggin that you know.

I just wanted to let you know I'm out here. I've done some Coggin research, although most of it is collecting info from some of the generous people in your 'gang', including Scott Fraser, Jane Norton Powell and Jerry Williams. I did do some research at the Mormon genealogy library in Mesa AZ (I live in the area, and they let anyone use their facilities) as well, and I received some more info from my mother's 92-year-old cousin about family members in more recent generations. I haven't actively pursued any more Coggin research in the last few months, as I don't have much time for it. (One of the burdens of working for a living!)
Thanks,

- Dave Abdoo
