I SAW YOUR QUERY AT ROBERTSON, TN PAGE. I WAS WONDERING HOW FAR YOU HAVE GOTTEN ON YOUR APPLETON LINE. I AM LOOKING FOR JOHN APPLETON WHO WAS BORN IN SC AND RAISED HIS FAMILY IN ROBERTSON, TN. HIS WIFE WAS POLLY PEPPER AND HE DIED IN 1843.

THIS IS JUST A SHOT, BUT I AM HAVING DIFFICULTY FINDING HIS BIRTH RECORD OR PARENTS. HOPING YOU COULD HELP.

Hi,

I don't have much at all, beyond Amanda Appleton, who married Preston D. Phillips....they married in Davidson County, TN, in 1838 I think (don't have my notes in front of me)

Tell me whatever you can on your Appleton's and maybe we can connect. I have the 1850 Robertson County census records page on my Phillips and Appletons are all around them....plus an A. Appleton purchased the Phillips family Bible at the estate sale of Ezekiel Phillips, Preston's father, in 1851.....

I guess I need to do a web page for Appleton....that's one line I haven't covered yet in my web pages on Genealogy and Tennessee

thanks for the reply, i am really interested in the appleton line. i would love to host a web page on them, but i am still a beginner at this internet thing.

other than what i said in the last letter, john was in cheathams second regiment of the west tn militia during the war of 1812. i haven't sent for pension records yet. so, that is about all i have for him.

his son john was very easy for me to research, though. he left tn and went to camden county, mo (after a brief pit stop in jefferson city, mo) with his wife levina elmore around 1850. i have about all i ever wanted to know of him and his 12 children. the family cemetery is just down the road from his son joseph's original homestead.john's homestead is under lake of the ozarks now, and joseph's original house burned. but joseph's son john and daughter annie (my g grandma) built a new home right next to the old chimney. my grandmother still lives there. i have plenty of old letters and quilts from the appletons, so i feel a real need to search for them as far as i can.

so far, i am finding very little about the surname appleton. i would have thought it to be far more popular than it seems to be.

anyway, that's all i have. i hope we can connect. let me know what you think.

My ancestor, Carolyn S. Benson br. 13 Dec 1817 Robertson Co TN married Archibald Appleton. 2 Apr 1836 same county.They had four children, John, Elvis H, Napoleon Bonapart, and Martha Jane. Archibald died by 2 Apr 1836 as she was remarried to Mathew Freeman and had children. My line is from the 2nd marriage but I'd appreciate any info on Archibald if he is part of your line.

I know Elvis H married Julina Holman and had at least 5 kids. Martha Jane married John Moudy and came to Illinois with her Mom and children of the second marriage.

I know nothing about John or Napoleon.
