CEMETERIES

Thanks to the efforts of Suzanne, we are able to bring you Sue Reed's "Compendum of Henry County Cemeteries". Reprinted with permission.

Manley Chapel Cemetery

aka: Old Campground Cemetery

Located off Paris-Camden Road on Bowden fare. (Copied from: (1) WPA Listing of 1936, which notes that there were 61 unmarked graves; (2) Mr. Ray Williams' records; and (3) The Kentucky Lake Cemetery Relocation Project comp. by Judith Ann Maupin (1975) which states that "this cemetery was well above elevation, but the access was flooded. It contained 190 graves and was fairly active, but poorly kept. Remain permits were executed on 187 graves, only 109 of which could be identified. Three graves were removed. Work was completed in June, 1943.")
