Dyersburg, Tenn. Sept. 16 - At a preliminary trial Miles YOUNG was acquitted of killing "Fatty" DAVIS who lost his life Saturday night in a place run by Charles PURCELL. The trial was held by Squire W. A. FOWLKES. A number of witnesses testified that the killing was accidental. The testimony of the trial showed the YOUNG and a plumber named NEAL had a misunderstanding about 50 cents at a card table. NEAL attempted to pull a gun on YOUNG, when the latter pulled an automatic pistol out of the table drawer and struck his antagonist in the face. The force of the blow fired the gun, the ball entered the right side of C. H. DAVIS, who was standing near by. DAVIS was from Memphis.

Rev. C. E. NORMAN, Messrs. E. L. EVANS, W. E. WRAY, and R. E. PARKER went to Jackson Monday to inspect plans for a new Methodist church building.
