Jack, the thirteen year old son of Jess HURLEY, former City Marshall of Halls, lost his life in the river near Chestnut Bluff while in bathing yesterday and his body had not been recovered at last reported. The youth was the nephew of Esq. Tom LOVE of this place.

L. B. HARWELL is in Memphis.

Unless you cut weeds and sprinkle lime about premises the marshall will do the work for you at your expense.

Born Tuesday to Mr. & Mrs. Will LEMONDS, a fine boy.

Mr. Bethel AGEE returned recently from a visit to Paragould, Ark.

John YANCY of Campbell, Mo. is a visitor here.

Dr. J. s. DOWNEY left Monday for Mississippi to visit relatives and will return home next Monday.

C. J. ANDERSON was in Memphis this week.

Master Moody ROBERSON is visiting his brother in Brownsville.

Mr. Ben HALL, the new merchant, has moved his family here from Henderson.

Rev. W. H. (Wild Bill) EVANS of Dallas, Texas is in the city.

Mrs. Ann NASH died Friday at her home in Dyer County, aged 73 years. Deceased was a victim of pellagra. She is survived by one son, Albert NASH, and one daughter, Mrs. J. E. WHITE. Mrs. NASH was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church and a good christian woman possessing many friends. The remains were laid to rest at the family burying grounds Saturday after services by Elder John GRIST.

Last Friday afternoon about 5 o'clock death claimed one of the community's purest christian characters, Mrs. Emma LASSITER, wife of L. T. LASSITER. Her husband and one sister, Mrs. Maggie RICE, of this place, survive her. She was about 35 years of age. The remains were laid to rest at Mt. Zion Saturday.

Mr. & Mrs. W. C. BARCROFT of Crockett Mills were visitors here Sunday.

Miss Iva HURLEY of Halls won the prize at the Opera House Saturday night, which was 5 percent of the receipts.

Miss Floy PARMER of Memphis visited her aunt, Mrs. Frank ANDERSON, last week.

Mrs. Annie COFFMAN and children will leave in a few days for Nashville where they will make their future home.

Miss Winnie DAVIS of Alamo visited friends in the city this week.

Robert MOORE returned to Trenton Sunday after a visit to his parents here.

D. D. ROBERTSON of Brownsville visited his father, E. A. ROBERTSON Sunday.

Mrs. GRIFFIN of Obion County is the guest of her daughter, Mrs. W. S. WRAY.
