The Red Hill Cemetery #2

The Red Hill Cemetery #2 is located located one mile east of Red Hill Church at the Junction of Earls Hollow and Russell Road.

Our deepest thanks and appreciation goes out to Arion & Jean Cole, for all their hard work, and for providing the following information and photographs below.

Field Stones counted in Red Hill Cemetery #2

"While I was taking photos of the Grave Stones in the cemetery, my wife, Mary Jean Cole, counted the graves marked by field stones and found the count to be 114 with possibly more that sank beneath the sod as the years went by. The number of unmarked graves is unknown to us at this time. We think further research thru the ranks of the older people of the families buried here might disclose more names and dates on the graves with no stones and/or field stones. I did see one grave marked with only a small wooden cross about 6 high and feel someone in the area has knowledge of who lies under this small wooden cross."

"Dear Ancestor"

Your tombstone stands among the rest; neglected and alone. The name and date are chiseled out on polished marbled stone.
It reaches out to all who care. It is too late to mourn. You didnt know that I exist. You died and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells in you, in flesh, in blood, in bone. Our blood contracts and beats a pulse entirely not our own.
Dear ancestor, the place you filled one hundred years ago, Spreads out among the ones you left who would have loved you so.
I wonder if you lived and loved. I wonder if you knew. That some day I would find this spot and come to visit you.

Note: My wife Jean found this in an Indiana cemetery several years and thought it would be nice to include it with the tombstones of her ancestors.
