Chapter supports Colonial Heritage Month

Henry County Mayor Brent Greer (right) presents a proclamation in recognition of the National Society Colonial Dames XVII to chapter president Joy Bland in recognition of the chapter's local sponsorship of National Colonial Heritage Month during October.

Meeting, Sept. 21, 2011

Recording Secretary Suzanne Richter holds up an item for auction as Chapter Treasurer Geraldine Sykes watches for bids at the chapter's annual auction.  The "Garden Fresh Dinner for Two" which Suzanne is holding as well as a variety of cakes, pies, home canned vegetables and fruits and a variety of miscellaneous items contributed to making this one of th most successful fund-raisers in chapter history.

National Defense
Chairman Geraldine Sykes presented
the views of some of our
"Founding  Fathers" on the subject
of national defense.  While they all
knew that defense was critical to
our remaining an independent
nation, each had a slightly
different opinion of how we
should go about achieving it.
The more things change, the
more they remain the same.

Pat examines some of the items ready for the chapter auction
Four of our seven prospective members were in attendance.

Stephanie keeps a record of members picking up new directories.
Arranging items for the auction.

Joy is outbid for the banana pudding.  (She got the second one, though!)

Julie dishing up some of Pat's homemade
banana pudding which Stepahnie bought
and shared with the group.  Cindy, our
most accommodating waitress,
was
most happy to get bowls and spoons for
us (and
she was ALSO most happy to
get a share of the
pudding!)
