PROGRAM
Computer File Extensions:
HELP!  I can't open this stupid file!

Chapter and State Technology Chairman Mary Ann Claxton presented an informative program about computer file extensions (the .doc or .jpg, or .pdf at the end of a computer file name) and why they are important in our everyday communication.  File extensions tell a computer what program to use to open the file, and if your computer doesn't have a program that will open a particular file extension (like a .docx file for computers before Windows 7), then your computer will say it doesn't know what program to use to open the file.  There was much discussion about how to avoid this.  The best solution is using "save as" and choosing a more common file extension instead of just clicking save and letting the computer choose for you.  Using this process and saving as a .pdf file assures that any other machine can open the file.
35th ANNIVERSARY OF OUR CHAPTER'S FOUNDING

At right,
Chapter First Vice President Pat Boals tells the history of the establishment of our chapter which was organized 8 DEC 1979 and chartered on 31 MAY 1980.  She and Chapter Chaplain Beverly Wood were the only two charter members present.  Below is a picture of the charter members.
