Were the uniformed men a village band or a chapel band? What was their history?

Thurmaston Primitive Methodist Chapel Football Club (The Magpies), 1909.

Three players of The Magpies are positively identified. The others may be as indicated. The website author would like help to make positive identifications of the remainder. Can you help? Do you know anything of the history of the club? In 1909, in their first season of the Mutual League, Division 4, they lost 1-0 to Countesthorpe in the final. The team in the following years did admirably well, they were runners-up again in 1910, and winners in the 1911 and 1912 seasons.

The image, at right, is an example of the winners medal for the 1911 football season, it was awarded to Norman Cart (b.1890) of Thurmaston, who is seated on the front row of the above and below photographs, second from the right.

Point at the faces of the players and other men to see their identities.

Do you know anything of the history of the club?
