Berta Crosby

CROSBY, Berta Entered into eternal rest on the evening of November 26, 2003, Berta Ruth Thompson Crosby, widow of William Eugene Crosby. Residence, North Charleston, S.C. The relatives and friends of Mrs. Crosby are invited to attend her funeral services Saturday morning, November 29, 2003, in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTH AREA CHAPEL, at 10 o'clock. Interment will be at Riverview Memorial Park. Mrs. Crosby was born in Columbia, S.C., on October 27, 1930, a daughter of Middleton Mishoe and Martha Eunice Thompson. She was a homemaker and a graduate of St. Andrew's Parrish High School. She had been a charter member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in West Ashley. She was a member of Portside Baptist Church for the past 50 years. She is survived by one son: Colie Morse Crosby, Sr., and his wife Melinda of North Charleston; four daughters, Sarah C. Howard and her husband Bob of North Charleston, Ruth C. Walkup and her husband Mike of Summerville, Annie C. Pennington and her husband Essel of Greenville, and Mary C. Poole and her husband James of West Ashley; two sisters, Margaret T. Towles and her husband Kirk and Mary T. Hilson and her husband Bill, all of West Ashley; one brother-in-law Bob Crosby of Bonneau; one aunt, Edna Baxley Thompson McGee and her husband Tom of Florence; 11 grandchildren, Colie, Jr., Sarah and Claire Crosby, Caroline, Elizabeth, and Gene Howard, Virginia, Michael, Jr., and Catherine Walkup, Rebecca and Emily Poole, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and a brother Alfred Brady Thompson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Portside Baptist Church, 1179 Remount Road, North Charleston, S.C. 29406, or to the American Lung Association, 1941 Savage Road, Charleston, S.C. 29407.
