WARE CEMETERY

A Victim of the Great Hanging

This old cemetery, which dates from at least 1862, is very overgrown and has been abandoned for many years.   The property is leased out and horses are allowed to roam through the grove of trees where these graves are located.   All traces will soon be gone.   We counted about 20 graves but few names in 2002.   An earlier survey done in Feb. 1980 must be our source for some names.  All graves were marked by sandstones with a number of them representing the Powers family.
It is located south and west of CR 678 on private property.
