Church,
at the home of wife's parents (Gurley, Cheyenne Co., NE).
Witnesses: Mr & Mrs. Alvin Lessman (a sister of Ida, and her
husband).
Mary Hadwiger-Napier (below) was daughter of Gus Hadwiger by
his first marriage
to Wilhemina Gerhold.
Art was son of Gus Hadwiger by his second marriage to Emma Schober
Gutzwiller.
Art & VEG were half-brothers
Art & Mary were half-siblings.
Mary and VEG were step-siblings

Dorothy Lawton was third wife of Gus Hadwiger, step-mother to Mary
and Art.
(Dorothy had a daughter by her previous marriage to Wyer Rockwell:
daughter was Dolly Rockwell)
VEG called Gus "Dad Hadwiger", but had difficulty defining
relationship to Dorothy!
Dorothy had come from NY City in response to matrimonial
advertisement.
Supposedly arrived by train in Columbus - She & Gus went
immediately to a small Catholic Church
near Shelby and married. Hans Korger went with them, he later
learned that Dorothy was divorced,
not widowed. Said he couldn't face that priest ever afterward.
Dorothy had her NYC family send "exotic foods" to the farm
south of Duncan, NE. She introduced all of them
to Italian dishes. VEG was fascinated with the preparation of
things that were different from the
standard fried potatoes, onion, pork and eggs served by his
Grandfather Schober at home.
By the time he was in HS, VEG was doing alot of cooking.
