History of Merrick County, Nebraska Vol II - 1987 The following articles were written by family members; the original photos were copied at various homes for inclusion with the text submission.
We will NOT copy articles for other families, nor do lookups. Merrick County Historical Museum has given us permission as coordinators for the Merrick County website (NEGenWeb Project) to post the book indexes; and requested that all lookup requests go to their organization so they can improve their contact list. Write to MCHM, Inc. at: 215 E St., Central City, NE 68826We first got into genealogy after organizing memorabilia in the possession of our parents in 1985.
Think it was summer of 1986 that we traveled to Nebraska seeking information; spent a couple weeks there. A few days after returning home, received a note inviting us to write up the MILLER family and submit it within 30 days for publication in Volume II of the History of Merrick County. Panic! We worked as fast as possible, fired off letters and made phone calls. Aunt Lois was to be our final editor, and she ran off to get married! (grinning). Had to mail the pages to Nebraska before Lois came back to earth. Will add some notes about our errors, discovered too belatedly to correct in the book. It's my recollection that the material was originally written with the notion it would be one lengthy continuous article - starting with Albert & Lovica (Silloway) Miller, followed by their children in birth order. Turns out the book was not organized in that manner - so don't believe some of the articles give info on relationship to Albert & Lovica! Intend to show the family relationships here and provide links. Maybe it will be easier to follow than the alpha order of the book! - C
