McAdams Virtual Family Reunion

Thomas McAdams and Ann Curran

Thomas McAdams was the oldest son of William and Isabella McAdams. His brother James immigrated to the United States in 1822. Thomas followed with his wife Ann Curran McAdams. They departed from the port of Belfast and arrived in Philadelphia on June 20, 1825. Thomas and Ann were both 20 years old at the time. A 12 year old was traveling with them by the name of James, who died shortly after arrival. According to Gerri McAdams, James was probably a brother as they named their first child James.

Thomas' parents, William and Isabella, followed in 1828 with Robert, 20, Ann, 18, John, 17 and William Joseph, 11 years 6 months. They left the port of Belfast and arrived in Philadelphia on May 19, 1828.

Thomas disappeared from the City Directories in 1857 and it appears that Ann lived with her children until her death in 1873. In the 1860 Census the address was 209 Thompson Street and Gerri's sources indicated that most of the family lived there for a great many years. The house still exists and he has seen it. Records are on page 232, 3rd Ward of Kensington.
