ROBERT BARBOUR
Robert Barbour's obituary appears on page 21 of the Tuesday, December 13, 1932 edition of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Robert's obituary confirms that he died on December 10, 1932 and that he was the husband of Mary McAdams Barbour. Of far more interest is the article that appeared in the December Issue of Greater Pittsburgh magazine: ------------------ Death Of Robert W. Barbour Robert W. Barbour, field representative of the Chamber of Commerce and friend of practically every business man in Pittsburgh, died suddenly last Saturday, December 10th, in his home at 5637 Rippey Street. He was stricken at the corner of Wood Street and Fifth Avenue about eleven o'clock in the morning; and Daniel Dwyer, a former member of the Camber, recognized him as one of the Chamber's staff and brought him to the office, from whence he was rushed by ambulance to his home. There he passed way less than an hour later. Bob "as everybody affectionately called him" had apparently been in good health when he left the office to make a business call, and his associates all cherish, as their last words with him, some jovial remark. That is as it should be, since Bob was one of the best-natured men and one of the most respected who ever trod Pittsburgh streets. No one can say with regret, "I wish he had not spoken that way to me!" Mr. Barbour was born in Franklin, Pennsylvania, May 7, 1870, from which his parents moved to Philadelphia. When he was seventeen years of age he came to Pittsburgh. On April 30, 1910, Bob entered the employ of the Pittsburgh Chamber of Commerce and soon became Assistant Secretary, remaining in that position until February 28, 1918, when he went to Wellsville, Ohio, as secretary of the Chamber of Commerce there. Later he returned to fill a similar position in the Pittsburgh Board of Trade (now the East Liberty Chamber of Commerce); but in June, 1922, he again joined the staff of the Pittsburgh Chamber of Commerce as Field representative, in which capacity he met most of the business men of the city and made innumerable friends. --------------- NOTES: Robert W. Barbour was married to Mary Scott McAdams, daughter of Robert and Margaret Scott Craig McAdams. Mary had two brothers, Robert C. and William McAdams, and three sisters, Agnes [who married George Lysinger], Helen [who married John J. Rankin] and Rebecca Keating McAdams who never married. Robert's in-laws, Margaret and Robert McAdams are buried with Rebecca Keating McAdams and George and Agnes Lysinger in Section 7 lot 50 Homewood Cemetery. Robert Wilson Barbour lists his residence as 830 N. St. Clair St., Pittsburgh PA and lists his occupation as Book keeper. In the 1920 Census, the Barbours appear in Allegheny County ED 60 page 2, Chartiers Township Precinct 8. Robert and Mary are living at Oakwood Road with daughter Marian, 9 at the time. Notice of time of funeral later. --------------- NOTES: Agnes Craig Derbyshire was born on June 11, 1826, the daughter of Mary Scott and Robert Craig, Sr. Agnes is buried in Section 7 Lot 50 of Homewood Cemetery with her mother, her sister, Margaret Scott Craig McAdams, and her brother-in-law Robert McAdams. Her obituary appeared in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette on August 14, 1913.

On Monday, Myra McPike Donoghue, beloved wife of the late Robert Emmett Donoghue; mother of James R., Robert E. Jr., and Mrs. Jane DiAngelo. Funeral from her late residence, 6487 Jackson St., on Thursday at 9 a.m. Requiem mass at the Sacred Heart Church at 10 o'clock. Friends invited. --------------- NOTES: Myra McPike Donoghue was the daughter of Sarah E. McAdams and James McPike. She died on October 20, 1947 at the age of 65 of primary carcinoma of the liver. She was interred with her husband in Section 235 F, St. Mary's Cemetery, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the plot belonging to her grandfather, James McAdams, on October 23, 1947.
R. Emmett DONOGHUE
On Tuesday, R. Emmett, beloved husband of Myra McPike Donoghue; father of Corp. James R., Robert E., U. S. Navy, and Mrs. Jane Di Angelo. Funeral from the family residence, 6487 Jackson St., on Friday at 9 a.m. Requiem mass at the Sacred Heart Church at 10:15 a.m. Friends invited. --------------- NOTES: Robert Donoghue was the husband of Myra McPike, daughter of Sarah E. McAdams and James McPike. Robert died at the age of 63. He was interred in Section 235 F, St. Mary's Cemetery, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the plot belonging to Myra's grandfather, James McAdams, on August 25, 1944.

"Policeman Reese Evans, aged 70, a member of the park police force of Northside, and a veteran of
the Civil War, died early yesterday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs John Stewart, 1340
Hopkins St. Northside, of paralysis, which he suffered four days ago. He was born in Mercer,
South Wales, and was brought to this country by his parents when 3 years old. The family settled
in Mckeesport. When the Civil War broke out Mr. Evans enlisted in Co. B, Sixty-Second Regiment,
Pennsylvania Volunteers, recruited here by Colonel Samuel Black. At the Battle of the Wilderness
he was captured and sent to Andersonville prison, where he was confined for 11 months. At the
close of the war Mr. Evans returned to McKeesport; where he married Miss Mary Ann Morgan in 1867.
Later, he and his bride moved to the Northside. Mrs Evans died seven years ago. Previous to
becoming a member of the Northside Park Police force. Mr. Evans was for 28 years harbor master
for a coal company. He was a member of Post 88, G.A.R.; Union Veteran Legion No. 1, Allegheny
Commandery, Knight Templar; Monongahela Lodge No. 269; F. and A.M.; and German Lodge of Odd
Fellows No. 64. Funeral services will take place at the family home this evening at 8:30 o'clock.
Interment will be made tomorrow in Homestead Cemetery. Two daughters, Mrs. Stewart and Mrs.
Edwin Alston and a son Charles Evans of the Northside, survive."

LYSINGER - On Monday evening, March 16, 1908 at 10: o'clock, George P. Lysinger. Funeral Service at the residence of his father-in-law, Robert McAdams, 812 Sheridan Avenue East End Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Interment private. Obituary appeared in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette March 18, 1908 --------------- NOTES: George was born on October 15, 1861 in Bedford County, PA. He married Agnes McAdams, daughter of Robert and Margaret Scott Craig McAdams on December 28, 1892. George and Agnes had two children, Margaret, born about 1905 and George Jr., born about 1906. Agnes died in 1916. Agnes and George are buried in the McAdams plot in The Homewood Cemetery Section 7 Lot 50 with Agnes' parents and grandmother Mary Scott Craig. In 1920, following their parents' death, Margaret and George Junior lived at 6114 St. Marie St. in Pittsburgh with Agnes' sister, Helen, and Helen's husband, John J. Rankin.
Christopher Lyman M'ADAMS
M'ADAMS - On Tuesday, November 7, 1911 at 3 a. m., CHRISTOPHER LYMAN M'ADAMS in his 34th year, husband of Carrie Hines, and son of William and Annie Wright McAdams. Funeral services at the home of his parents, 503 Bruston avenue, East End, on Thursday evening at 8 o'clock. Interment private Friday morning at 10 o'clock. --------------- NOTES: Christopher Lyman McAdams was born in Pennsylvania in January 1877 to William McAdams and Annie Wright. His occupation was listed as plumber. Christopher had two brothers: Edward and Edgar. Edward Calvin McAdams, M. D. was married to Lydia McClain who died in February 25, 1917. Edward married Lydia McClain in 1914. Lydia died in 1917, and Edward married Ida Mae Kidd in 1921. Christopher's brother Edgar L. McAdams married Lucy Hunt and had a daughter, Norma. Christopher and Carrie had three children: Edward Lyman McAdams, Evelyn McAdams, and William McAdams. Christopher was buried in Union Dale Cemetery Section N with Carrie and with his parents, William McAdams and Annie Wright. Also in Section N are Christopher's paternal grandparents, Robert and Mary Ann McAdams, and his maternal grandmother Nancy Nelson Wright.

The 1910 Census shows her living with her father, Nicholas, 43, also born in Pennsylvania, mother Victoria, 39, born in Germany and six brothers and sisters, all born in Pennsylvania: Laurence, 13, Harriet, 12, Francis [male], 8, Mildred, 5, Adalade, 3, and Ruth 1. In 1870, Eulalia's grandfather, Milcah Koffler is living in Snowden Township, Allegheny County. Milcah, 44 at that time, was a farmer born in Baden. With him are his wife Annie, 42, born in Bruges and nine children, all born in Pennsylvania: Elizabeth, 19, Mary, 17, George, 13, Valentine, 11, Joseph, 9, Maggie, 7, Nicholas, 5, daughter Frances, 3, and Kate, 1. [Source: 1870 Federal Census Tables for Allegheny County, Snowden Township, printed page 448]. Eulalia married Francis McAdams in 1916. She was originally buried in St. Mary's Cemetery, Section N Lot 108 where Francis' parents, James McAdams [1865 - 1918] and Margaret Moan McAdams [1872 - 1950] now rest. Section N Lot 108 is deeded to Francis' grandmother, Mary Moan [1840 - 1905] who also rests in that plot. In November of 1920, Eulalia was moved to St. George Cemetery.

Notice of funeral hereafter. --------------- NOTES: Harriet was born about 1841 to Robert McAdams and his wife Rebecca Keating. She was buried in Section 16 of Allegheny Cemetery in Lawrenceville with her parents and grandfather, William McAdams.
