S - sex (column 3)

C - color (column 4)

F - free or slave (column 5)

M - married or widowed (column 6)

POB - place of birth (column 7) standard postal abbreviations for the states; IR = Ireland; SL = Scotland

MTH - month is which the person died (column 8)

TRADE - profession, occupation, or trade (column 9)

CAUSE - disease or cause of death; if blank, nothing was entered (column 10)

ILL - number of days ill; if blank, nothing was entered (column 11)
