State of Missouri, County of Christain, on this 12th day of June 1866 personally appeared before me, John Pettijohn, Clerk of the County Court, and for the said County, ELIZABETH HAMPTON (this is Elizabeth Jones Hampton, daughter of James and Mary Standridge Jones and wife of Andrew Hampton) of Stone County, Mo. being duly sworn according to ..........?, and says that she is personally aquainted with Martin J. Jones who was a Private in Co. B, 6th Reg., Mo. Cav. and has been well aquainted with Jemina C. Jones and has been for 20 years past and Mrs. Jones maiden name was Jemina C. Roberts and she further knows that they were married on the 1st day of January 1857 by Eli Golston, a justice of the peace, in and for the county of Carroll in the state of Arkansas for she was present and witnessed the marriage ceremony and she further knows that they lived and cohabited together as man and wife from that day until he became a soldier as aforesaid and have children.........on the following days and dates to wit Sarah A. born the 28th November 1861 and she further knows the records of Carroll County were destoryed during the Rebellion and that said Eli Golston has departed this life and that she has no interest in the procurement of this claim.
