The death of John M. Ward, who died at his home on February 21, 1902, was announced in The Indian Chieftain on February 27, 1902. He was a member of Vinita Lodge, No.18 of the Independent Order of the Odd Fellows which met and made memorial resolutions regarding the deceased.
