Jack Hunt, Wife Murderer, Caught, Arrested, and Jailed But Broke Out

The following article published in The Morristown Gazette on August 4, 1875, suggested how Jack Hunt might have broken jail at Madisonville, TN in spite of its fortification.


The article below was published in The Knoxville Whig and Chronicle also on Wednesday, August 4, 1875. It regards Andrew Jackson "Jack" Hunt, who was caught, arrested, and jailed for the brutal murder of his wife, seventeen-year-old Mrs. Margaret Ann (Davis) Hunt and their unborn baby in Tellico Plains, Monroe CO, TN. While incarcerated, he broke jail and escaped on July 26, 1875.
