Simon Boggess Poisoned to Death in McMinn CO, TN



The article above appeared in the Wednesday, February 21, 1882, issue of The Knoxville Daily Chronicle and occurred on Saturday, February 18, 1882. Simon Boggess, the elder, is a son of Abijah and Susan (Jordan) Boggess of Meigs CO, TN. Simon was often referred to as 'Squire, which is the clipped version of the title Esquire. His wife is Mrs. Martha M. (McKeehan) Boggess of McMinn CO, TN.



The subsequent article above appeared in the February 24, 1882, issue of The Knoxville Daily Chronicle. The editor wisely chose to print facts rather than rampant speculation.



The third clipping was published in The Knoxville Daily Chronicle on March 4, 1882, and described the recovery of Mrs. Martha Boggess and her young son Abijah Boggess.
