Services Monday for L. M. Pierce
Funeral
services were held Monday afternoon at the Bureau Township Community Church
for Luther Pierce who died Friday at 5:50 p.m. at his home in Bureau.
Luther
Merit Pierce was born in Bureau Township June 11, 1868, son of William
and Lucretia Styles Pierce. On Oct. 26, 1892, he married Miss Elizabeth
Vaughn of Bureau township who survives along with one son, Roland, Bureau
township, three grandchildren, Mrs. Dorothy Braasch, Davis; Donald Pierce,
Peoria; Mrs. Idella Lockridge, Seneca; 10 great-grandchildren, and a number
of nieces and nephews. Mr. Pierce's occupation was farming in Bureau Twp.
He was named Mr. Centennial of the 1955 Bureau County fair because he attended
89 consecutive county fairs.
Funeral
arrangements were in charge of the Sutley funeral home, Wyanet, the Rev.
Randall M. Rice officiating.
