MOORE - LaVerne Lee Moore, 75, 104 E. North St., Durand, died at 6:10 a.m. Tuesday, July 21, 1981, in Rockford Memorial Hospital aftr a long illness. Born Feb. 26, 1906, in Davis, son of Stephen and Mary Bakey Moore. Lived all his life in Davis-Durand area. Married to the former Rowena Barker in Durand, March 15, 1933. Retired from farming in 1958; worked at Worth-Helmer Cattle Co., Durand, for 10 years; state Highway Deaprtment four years; maintenance man for Gas & Electric Building, Rockford, eight years, retiring in 1979. Member of United Methodist Church of Durand and 53-year member of Modern Woodmen o fAmerica, Camp 51. Survivors include his wife, Rowena; eight sons, Robert, Kenneth, and Russell, all of Durand, Stephen, Davis, Donald, Rockford, William, Oak Grove Village, Harold, Nashville, Tenn., and David, Dallas, Texas; six daughters, Mrs. Marian Gratton, Mrs. Phillip (JoAnne) Brooks, and Mrs. Shirley Barnum, all of Rockford, Mrs. Robert (Nancy) Bryan, Compton, Mrs. Gerald (Harriett) Schultz, Belvidere, Mrs. Charles (Sharon) Trotter, Lebanon, Tenn., a borther, Stephen, Edgerton, Wis.; a sister, Mrs. Louise Heinen, Durand; 44 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Predeceased by parents, two brothers, a sister, a daughter and a grandson.
    Services at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, July 23, in McCORKLE FUNERAL HOME, Durand, with the Rev. George Lockwood, pastor of St. John's United Methodist Church, Rockford, officiating. Burial in Durand Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established.
