Sarah Lucretia STILES
b. 30 Nov 1834 in Logan Co., OH, the daughter of Abram and Sarah (MARTIN) STILES
d. 11 Feb 1927 in Bison, Rush Co., KS; bur. in Lacrosse Cemetery, Rush Co., KS

William's mother passed away when he was about four, and the family was dispersed among relatives. He took up the shoemaker trade. Upon reaching young adulthood, he moved west to Bureau Co., IL. He farmed in the Wyanet area.

Lucretia and her family moved west to Bureau Co., IL when she was young, settling in Walnut.

After their marriage, William and Lucretia resided in Bureau Co.. They raised four boys and a girl, plus another girl who died in childhood. After their children were grown, William and Lucretia moved to Bison, KS to farm, where they resided until their deaths.

  1. Sarah L. Pierce, b. 9 Jul 1858; d. 20 Nov 1861.
  2. Henry Sumner Pierce, b. Mar 1861.
  3. Franklin H. Pierce, b. 1863; d. 1947. He m. Ada Jane KANAUTS.
  4. Asa S. Pierce, b. 1866.
  5. Luther Merit Pierce, b. 11 Jun 1868.
  6. Clara M. Piece, b. 1872.
