Heinrich and Dorathea, with their 4 children, immigrated from Germany to America in 1852 aboard the Johann Schmidt (sailing from Breman to New Orleans). Two of the children died enroute. The family settled in rural Rock Run Township, Stephenson Co., IL, in a German-immigrant area known locally as Epleyanna (just west of Davis). They had 3 more children in Davis.
The family name, Böke in German, was anglicized to Boeke, and eventually to Bakey.
Heinrich and Dorathea are buried in the cemetery at St. Paul's church (Epleyanna). Their gravesites do not have markers.
