John Scarbrough was brought to America as a youth by his father, an early pioneer in the Bucks Co. area. According to tradition, he lived among the Indians for several years while growing up, and remained on good terms with them. He m. Mary --?-- about 1690 in Middletown. He settled there, taking over his father’s property. He moved to Solebury in 1700, the first white settler in the Solebury valley. He was a farmer and a Quaker minister.

Children of John and Mary Scarborough:

1. William Scarborough, b. 30 Oct 1691; d. Apr 1727. He had children William, Euclides, Lydia, Martha, and Sarah.
2. Sarah Scarborough, b. 4 Feb 1694; d. 4 Mar 1748. She m. (1) George HAWORTH 28 Sep 1710 in Buckingham. They had children Stephanus, George, Absalom, James, and Mary. She m. (2) Matthew HALL. They had children David, Mahlon, Margery, and Sarah.
3. Mary Scarborough, b. 8 Aug 1695. She m. Samuel PICKERING 7 Nov 1712.
4. Susannah Scarborough, b. 19 May 1697. She m. Richard BROCK 4 Dec 1718. They had children John, Elizabeth, Mary, Susannah.
5. Elizabeth Scarborough. She m. John FISHER 29 Oct 1719 in Buckingham. They had children Robert, Sarah, John, Elizabeth, Hannah, Joseph, Deborah, Samuel, and Katherine.
6. Hannah Scarborough, b. 31 Aug 1704; d. 21 Feb 1743. She m. Benjamin FELL. They had children John, Asa, Phebe, Benjamin.
7. John Scarborough, d. 5 May 1769; m. Jane MARGERUM 2 Apr 1731. They had no issue.
8. Robert Scarborough, b. about 1707.
