Mary HARTLEY
b. about 1816 in Jefferson Co., OH, the daughter of Mahlon and Charity (SCARBOROUGH) HARTLEY
d. about 1839 in Belmont Co.

Thomas Hollingshead was likely born in Maryland, but raised in Frederick Co., VA. His father died in 1810, when he was about 8. His mother later married Francis NEFF. About 1824, Tom moved with his mother and family to Belmont Co., OH.

Thomas married Susannah CONKLING on 5 Jun 1828. She was the daughter of Hudson and Hannah CONKLING. Thomas and Susannah had two children. She died in Jan 1833, and was buried in Centreville, OH.

On 12 Dec 1834, Tom married Mary Hartley. The Hartleys were a Quaker family, members of the Stillwater Monthly Meeting, and Mary was dismissed for marrying out of the faith.  They had three children together. Mary died about 1839, possibly while giving birth to their daughter Lydia.

On 14 Nov 1839, in neighboring Guernsey Co., OH, Tom married Sarah DONALDSON. They had two children together. About 1845, Tom and Sarah moved west to Bureau Co., IL, settling in the Wyanet area. Tom died shortly thereafter. He was reportedly buried in a pioneer cemetery near Wyanet, the exact location of which is unknown. In Jun 1846, Sarah married William ELLIOTT.

Children of Thomas and Susannah (Conkling) Hollingshead:

1. John Hollingshead, b. Apr 1829.
2. Susannah Hollingshead, b. 27 Oct 1832; d. Sheffield, IL 27 Jan 1892. She m. Andrew MARPLE 28 Oct 1852 in Bureau Co. They had children Hannah, Martha, Rachel, David, and Lucinda.

1. Thomas Hollingshead, b. 30 Dec 1835. He m. Mary GREEN Feb 1869 in Bureau Co.
2. Phoebe Hollingshead, b. about 1837. She m. Edward HALL 27 Mar 1861 in Guernsey Co., OH. They had children Laura and Isaac.
3. Lydia Jane Hollinghsead, b. 18 May 1839.

1. Elizabeth Hollingshead, b. 19 May 1841. She m. William THOMPSON.
2. Margaret R. Hollingshead, b. 1843. She m. Isaac HOWELL.
