Swift Current, Saskatchewan GenWeb Project

Dear Swift Current and Area Gen Web Community,

As RootsWeb transitions to read-only in 2024, we're thrilled to assure you that the cherished Swift Current Gen Web Project will continue to thrive and evolve. Our webpages are relocating to a new domain: https://saskgenweb.ca/skswiftc/SwiftCurrent. Fear not; the commitment to documenting family histories, community heritage, one-room schoolhouses, cemeteries, and more remains unwavering. With the support of our growing Patreon community (https://www.patreon.com/SaskGenWeb), we've secured a new domain and web hosting provider. This enables us to persist year after year in preserving the rich history of Swift Current and its surroundings.

Warm regards,
The Swift Current and Area Gen Web Project Volunteer Team

There are lots of great genealogy web pages out there. Many people have put a lot of effort into wanting to share their family histories with others.

If your family is from the Swift Current Region (as defined by this site's borders) then you are very welcome to e-mail me your site address and I will post it for you.

NOTE: Commercial sites will not be accepted.

This site was started in 1999 after I found my fathers relatives in February of that year. My father was the second eldest of 24 children. He was born in 1900 in Cape Breton. This site is the cullmination of my searching 57 years for my fathers family.

I was born in Shaunavon in 1932 and left there in 1940 after my mothers death, 1n 1938. The site was started to help others find their roots. In January of 2004, the first episode of "Past Lives" featured William Stage my cousin who is one of over 150 who found his/her ancestors through my site. The site is updated monthly.

James Franklin Waller and his wife, Sarah Eliza (McGee) are both buried in Swift Current. They and their family moved from Tweed, Ontario to Swift Current sometime before World War One.

The Waller web site documents much of this Swift Current family's ancestry as well as many of the descendants. We are seeking information on other descendants and stories of the role of the family in the area.
