      SCHMIDT, XAVIER and BARBARA (BAUML)

Xavier Schmidt was born December 20, 1890 at Hienbein, Germany; Barbara Schmidt (Bauml) was born February 22, 1900 at Lobsing, Germany.

Before coming to Canada, Xavier served in the German Military for three years as an officer. It's unkown the exact year he immigrated to Canada, it was said to be around 1920 or maybe earlier.

He worked as a farm labourer for a few years and about 1924 he went back to Germany to bring back Barbara Bauml. They married and came to Canada and that is when they purchased a farm from F. Glessing, located on N-1/2-2-37-20-W3rd, in the Krist School district.

They farmed until 1956 and then sold their farm and had a auction sale of their farm machinery and their finest Holstein cows.

They retired to Wilkie, Saskatchewan for about ten years or so, when their health began to fail and they could not provide for themselves. They then sold their retirement home in Wilkie and moved to Lloydminster, Alberta to live the rest of their lives with their daughter Nettie and he husband Leo Suchan.

Annie Reiger, after the death of her mother, was taken in as a little and grew up with Barbara and Xavier and lived and worked for them until their retirement.

Xavier passed away June 9, 1973 at the age of 83 years.

Barbara passed away June 29, 1980 at the age of 80 years.

Interment was at the Lloydminster City Cemetery.
