      Welcome Sign

      (REINIGER) MARY BOSCH

I was born August 26, 1915, third in our family of six to George Reiniger and Katherine Schwab on the homestead- NE-16-37-19-W3.

As a child growing up on a farm, there were many unforgettable memories. We had none of the conveniences that are a necessity today. I well remember my dad hauling us to school when it was bitterly cold in an open bob sleigh. In the summer we walked to school and home, had a lunch, then again off to the pasture rounding up the cows to be milked, etc. We lived in an eight room house that still stands, which kept us quite busy. As the depression of the late twenties took over, there was very little money, so we had to wear hand-me-downs. Dad and Mother always had a big garden so we were kept busy canning vegetables for weeks.

My parents, brothers and neighbors would go out to Cando and Red Pheasant for a couple of days loading wood, picking berries, and came home with pails, tubs and what have you full. I hated the job of cleaning berries but they sure tasted good when they were in the sealers for fruit, pies and jam.

In 1936 I met Joe and we were married the following year on October 19th, 1937 at St. Paschal's Church, Leipzig. We have five children, three daughters and two sons.

Denise married Ralph McKee who is employed at the Unity Body Shop. Denise is employed at the Delta Co-op bakery.

They have four children twosons and two daughers - Calvin, Jeffrey, Shelly and Jackie.

Lorie married Martin Brown who is road patrol man. Lorie is employed at Round Valley Municipality as administrator. They have two children- Jody and Shannon.

Linda married Stuart Grave from Vernon, B.C. His occupation is surveying. They live in North Battleford. They have two children - Bradley and Allison.

Melvin has one son Daniel. He drives a semitruck and lives in North Battleford.

Terence is married to Betty Schell. They have two children - Robin and Lindsay. Terry is also in the trucking business, working in and out of the province and lives at North Battleford.

I have 11 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. We moved to Unity in 1971. Joe's health was already declining when this picture was taken in 1982. He passed away July 28, 1985. I still reside in my own home at 372-4th Avenue West.
