KAUFMAN, JOHN - German.  Came from Altus Arkansas USA with his parents and family to Colbenz (Landis) district via North Battleford in 1906, with a carload of settlers effects.  Through the years holdings were increased to 800 acres.  Mr. Kaufman still lives on the farm.  Five sons still live at Landis, Lawrence, Edward, John Jr., Philip and Louis.  Justin lives in BC and Martin in Wisconsin, USA.  There are also five daughters, Margaret Zimmer (Handel), Dorothy (Edmonton), Eileen Silvernagel (Biggar), Theresa Roth (Handel) and Mary Volk (Denzil).
